Art comes from conflict, in mirrors & otherwise. Demolishing all that is right or good or sensory. Our senses lie to us, our eyes are turned up to know trouble. Our ears turn a dripping sink into terror approaching. Chapel Perilous, bleakness - run headfirst into it. See a shadow fade.

It's Spooky season, that means I get to watch all my young goth stop motion favorites (Nightmare before Christmas, Beetlejuice, PeeWee's Big Adventure), promote my favorite adult goth VR walking simulator/story game 'The Midnight Walk', and generally wear a lot of black & white striped clothes.

I recorded a video of myself revelling in @moonhood.bsky.social's brilliant work of art 'The Midnight Walk', it's very slowly paced but i think it's a good one... i rarely up stuff to youtube, think i might with this. Game is also on sale for the season, my VR GOTY 2025 <3

Swear it's gotta be like some cosmic joke that one of the dudes leading humanity lovingly into the darkness is named "Alt man". Couldn't have more on the nose if Stephen King wrote this novel we're living in.

i might be too late to start now, but it would be pretty cool to have a mattress full of beard trimmings. Maybe i'll be the first immortal and in about 1000 years will have a mattress full of beard the size of the Great Pyramid, or that Ultra-Kroger that they're building where Vermont used to be?

Current-borne, wave-flung, tugged hugely by the whole might of ocean, the jellyfish drifts in the tidal abyss. The light shines through it, and the dark enters it.

somebody outside was just singing the doors song where it's all stupid and there's the line "save our city" but they changed it to "shave our nippies" and lo, it was officially saturday

so now that everybody is expected to have a team of robots doing their bidding, we need to figure out how to capture the feelings those tasks would elicit if we did them ourselves and mainline them back into our meatbags. or not... maybe it might be better to just live in a cave? (undecided)

Bless all of those that keep themselves open enough to let the intimacy of a great song in to shape and tone their memories. Pity to those who never felt the connection between their personal moments and a heroic recording. Both are made immutable by their shared experience.

I hope that people who are super against AI dev games are figuring out how I can always find hand-crafted works bc I care but have no clues. Pretty good at noticing slop but the slop is getting pretty shiny lately innit

Just realized that Sony owns the rights to the Wipeout games... they ought to sell to someone who will keep them alive in #VR. F&*#k a bunch of IP-squatters at Sony. I hope they let them go ASAP.

Damn, Bioware officially gone... I continue to be pissed that making games (i.e. collaborative art productions) is such a brutal business. We need to reinvent that wheel, and then build a money-proof spaceship around it.

Okay, people are already getting really depressed and frustrated with the Next Fest, so I'll say what I said last time round: Wait a day or two. They order the games on the pages by hours played, and 99% of the AI garbage will sink like a stone. Right now it's just undifferentiated and unranked.

Just heard that today is Keeper's first anniversary - here's some shots from the journey you take as a living lighthouse that goes for a walk. One of my favorites, especially in VR with good headphones. Psychedelic on its' own (even has a filter that turns you into a lava lamp). 💜

Chilling with Sword of the Sea (in #vr via #uevr). If you told me that one day i'd play a game that was more visionary and gorgeous than Fantasia, and that I could be inside of the game universe, i'd tut and steal your milkshake. But we're here! Truly one of the greatest escapes in all of art.

Another one from 'Sword of the Sea'. If this game had a pissed up DSP soundtrack, it would be the ultimate in IDM expression - note the dolphin gods, first spotted during the Lusine's live show NYE 2004 which featured dolphin imagery, securing the D in IDM forever to stand for 'dolphin'.

I just had a dream that Orbit Magazine (Detroit RIP 1999) was still around but it was in the form of a monthly measuring tape. Opened up, it would connect to some radio station, making sparks and sound happen. Anybody remember Orbit? I wonder if today is significant at all in that context

Right now, a robot that you used to make pictures of your cat dressed as your grandma is trying to break into the atemyballs webring to add every one of our names to it, and you're just sitting there eating swiss rolls? gimmie one

Paul Thomas Anderson could have been really hilarious and made one of Plainview's hooligans look like Saddam Hussein... since Hussain basically used the same argument against Kuwait before the invasion by Iraq. Hussain accused Kuwait of Slant drilling, drinking that milkshake the funk up.

If we truly want a world where nations don't matter, maybe we should start by trying to tell the history of the world completely detached from all national pride. I wish nations didn't matter at all (i think). Always advocate for direct experience of people and direct history.

but maybe mythmaking has to be a thing. Maybe kids start printing their own money if you never tell them that their ancestors fought and died for them and their right to chew bubble gum etc
