For the first time ever, batteries storing cheap solar energy overtook expensive gas during the afternoon peak, in the last three months.  The Coalition today committed to scrapping this policy that has helped so many Australians with the cost of living, we're supporting it.

What's extremely telling is that there is never once an article like this written from the perspective of the person who cut off their parent.

Everyone thought Lula was cooked, hopeless. Then he bought a phone and started posting and now he's gonna get a 4th term. The lesson is to never stop posting.

In his acceptance speech, Lula says he will work to regulate digital platforms in Brazil. “Digital crimes must be dealt with like real-life crimes.” This comes after Meta directly interfered with the Brazilian elections, favouring Flávio Bolsonaro.

Lula winning is great for the planet, great for Brazil, and great for people who aren't revanchist assholes everywhere in the world, but let's not forget that it's also going to make some of the worst people on Earth extremely sad and mad. We should enjoy that, as a little treat.

Can’t help but think about speeches at The Big Occasions of life and death where people say *lame* things about what someone means to them in a halting voice without the vocabulary they want to have but it’s moving and lovely and human and it’s awesome. Then there is this.

cool, cool

Bit of good news.

The long-serving strongman leader of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, has conceded defeat in an election that pitted him and his right-wing party against a diverse student-led opposition movement that spent two years protesting his government.

And yet their own charts *in this piece* show overall crime rates in Melbourne basically static / small fall over 10 years (and aggravated burglary is down about 20%.) The politics of it is because every media outlet in the state chases clicks from scaring the shit out of people - eg this crap.

The 22 yo Australian woman (say) is very probably in some housing cost stress, maybe has student debt, is in a labour market of increasing insecurity and you want to tell her the problem is she bought a pretty crappy (she knows it is!) dress to go out in. Great stuff.

Some of the article is "bring back Holden" but most is about taxing direct to inexpensive consumer imports from foreign businesses so Gerry et al get to clip the ticket. This is not industry policy as conventionally understood.
