Tesco have Baileys Original Irish Cream 1-litre "on offer" and "reduced" from £22.75 to £13 (with Clubcard). Asda have the same product reduced from £13 to £10. Buyer beware! #RipOffBritain

I know there's a lot going on but I feel it should probably be more of an above-the-fold story that members of Congress released a thoroughly documented report directly accusing the president of the United States of being a serial rapist.

Happy 25th Birthday Wayback Machine! On October 24, 2001, The Internet Archive organization launched a free digital archive of websites for the general public called the Wayback Machine. The oldest pages stored in the archive date back to 1996.

I made a post to an OSM mailing list today, and got a reply - from an AI agent. While the content was superficially plausible, it did not, unlike the human participants on the list, include any URLs to the data queries it claimed to have made to compile its response.

In response to my complaint, the @hyperallergic.com piece has now been re-written, with an "editor's note": "An earlier version of this article misrepresented the user commentary on the Wikipedia deletion page. It has been updated with accurate details of the discussion, and we regret the error."

After a short Wikipedia entry about artist Laura June Kirsch mysteriously appeared, anonymous users who were seemingly men debated whether she was “credible enough” to justify her own page.

The Royal Society is hiding all posts that mention that they still refuse to remove noted White Supremacist Elon Musk from their number.

Google, Microsoft, Apple & co could support most of these people with amounts smaller than the rounding errors in their accounts. Also: a fascinating read

I would leave a comment on the original piece but - with a great amount of irony - the publication will only allow me to do so "… for a price"

And if anyone is wondering what I mean by "denigrated": "This group of seemingly random, chronically online men whose only accomplishment was writing about others’ accomplishments... What have you done, Dan — win the beer pong Olympics at your alma mater in 2009? Who crowned you king of Wikipedia?"

Once again, Wikipedia volunteers doing their best to get things right are denigrated by someone who hasn't bothered to engage, nor apparently to make any effort to learn how things work

I have written to @theguardian.com to ask them to correct their false claim that "just 19% of [English Wikipedia]’s biography entries are for women", made in two separate articles in recent days. The 20% mark was reached in December 2024 and the % continues to rise en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikiped...

eBay users! Don't ignore today's email, even though it looks like a boring standard update to the User Privacy Notice. They want to use your data to train AI models. If you click the link over the words "the right to object", it takes you to a page with a toggle button letting you opt out.

Together with other scientists I’m suing the 🇺🇸 US National Institutes of Health for violating our 1st Amendment rights & censoring our health science. I’m ready to shine a light on the darkest days. Buckle up, read on. This gets pretty wild… THREAD

By terminating research grants like Kelton's to censor views it doesn’t like, the NIH is blocking scientists from work that would advance public health for all of us. We're pushing back. Tell Congress to demand the NIH restore the grants and stop its censorship campaign at aclu.org/nih_censorship_
