The Weeknd's new concert song for Hong Kong is notable not only for containing a Faye Wong sample (good choice) but for offering an ephemeral glimpse of a city's '80s and '90s dreams that have since been smothered and glossed over www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBhL...

It's almost as if what's happened to HK in the last 20 years is representative of the general enshittification of today's world. Anyway, listen to the OG Faye Wong song if you haven't heard it before, or if you're a weeb who only knows Faye from Final Fantasy VIII www.youtube.com/watch?v=LztS...

The Hero and Dog from "Secret of Evermore". I added them to spite some asshole that was rudely demanding "Secret of Mana" reps. I actually had an idea to make it so that depending on the stage, the dog switches to one of his 4 forms and each one played differently. Was sad to see this one go.
I'm glad to see Sword World localised, but not surprised those who've played fan translations for years are pissed at this stuffed Backerkit campaign. Mystery boxes in a TTRPG crowdfund?! (They made over a million though, so 'tis what it is) www.backerkit.com/c/projects/m...

this is one thing where it's gonna be hard for people doing this by hand to continue to derive meaning from AI is just automatically "solving" problems people have been working on in teams for years in a matter of hours + barging into open source repositories & stealing / "helping" their work
A video game reverse engineering community has shut down because many games can now be trivially reverse engineered and decompiled with AI: "The community aspect of decompilation has been broken." www.404media.co/video-game-r...

Been working hard on this for the last several months. Writing, lorekeeping, co-ordinating with some very talented freelancers, and new rules development. More to come, more to come!

Accurate. The Japanese student in me is amused at how へ is now causing this vast topic of contention in games media Mistranslation aside, though, I'm certain Capcom's utilising LLMs behind the scenes in some capacity. This is the company that made Mega Man X NFTs, after all.
EG fell for it too. :( The Capcom presentation contains a slide with "AI世代のゲームエンジンへ" - the article omits the "へ", for one, but the issue is that while 世代 means 'generation', it's in the 'console generation' sense, not like GenAI. Without へ, translation software gets it totally wrong.

This Saturday, we exhibited at Questival, a brand new storytelling convention run by (among others) Bulwark Games, in Port Sunlight. In short, it was excellent. For a longer take, you can read my newest RUNNING THE NUMBERS blog. www.threesailsstudios.com/blog/questival-2026-running-the-numbers
Quick story: Oates was my creative writing teacher in university, and reviewed a short story I wrote about a "superhero" who thought he was a member of the Justice League, but was actually hallucinating and in a psychiatric hospital. (This was in 2008 or '09; I wouldn't write the same twist today.)

Only 24 hours until the end of the campaign! Be sure to back (or tag friends you know would be interested) before it's too late!
It's our final week of the crowfunding campaign for City of Espers so don't miss out! City of Espers is a card-based TTRPG about found family, having a chat with the city itself, and using psychic powers to chase out comically evil property developers. Back it now! www.backerkit.com/c/projects/t...
A great game and a mediation on death, life beyond death, and friendship (with ghosts!). Also a one-man-band effort by my friend Paul who lives and breathes adventure games like few other can. Check it out if you haven't already

This project is pretty ghatdang cool. I have played many things that were supposed to emulate the feel of Resident Evil in TTRPG form, but nothing quite like this. And if "Ink Ribbon" isn't the perfect title for a project of this caliber, I don't know what is!
And WE'RE LIVE! Ink Ribbon, our survival horror #TTRPG, is now live on Backerkit! www.backerkit.com/c/projects/o...

The Blood of Dawnwalker is grand, even though far too many of its quests force you into combat that doesn't have enough depth to sustain itself over time. But when the game does stuff well, it really excels. Also, extra points for featuring Central Asians in a tale set in 1300s Eastern Europe!
