One thing I learned from LucasArts games was that when describing something you should not stop at the evident, you should be a little extra and add a something that makes the person reading/hearing the description understand better the essence of the object described.

The 2026 Gauntlet Writing Retreat was great! Just a fantastic week of creativity and camaraderie, and a whole lot of writing. I’m much better at this than I was six years ago, and so I’m able to be more helpful in my guidance. And TLR is going to be something special!

At the Gauntlet Writers Retreat, attendees studied how to craft good Paint the Scene questions. Our group created a terrible town named Big Rock: Crocodile Alley Wax Museum What needed downtown service should have been in this beautiful space and central location rather than this stupid wax museum?

Today I got up two hours after I went to bed so I could catch my flight home—but then the shuttle I had ordered almost made my group miss their flights anyway. Ugh. Looking forward so much to getting a (hopefully) good night’s sleep tonight

Heading home from Tennessee after one of the best weeks of my year. Glad to be going home but sad to say goodbye to everyone I met.
