Curious to know why this book contains a page at the end on which is printed the word EPISTOLA twenty-two times in three columns. In the philosophical disputations of the Dutch philosopher Adriaan Heereboord (Leiden, 1650). @theulspeccoll.bsky.social X.16.47.

Calligraphy door to my website — welcome to explore! I'm a type designer, fascinated with calligraphy, because calligraphy provides a deep knowledge of letterforms, their origin and future potential. #calligraphy #font #custom #design

In 1867 my g.g.grandfather was killed in an explosion at Ferndale colliery in S Wales. One of 178 men and boys killed. A hundred years later 116 children and 28 adults were killed by an unsafe waste tip in Aberfan. Sobering but important TV. www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio...

theguardian.comAberfan: The Village That Fought Back review – the contempt they have faced to get justice is sickeningAs we witness the endless indignities these grieving families have endured in the six decades since the mining disaster, it is impossible not to turn red with rage

Pleasing to get proofs of book chapter soon to be published. Based on my PhD research via a talk I gave at the USTC conference a couple of years ago 💃

I’d you’re shocked at the damage in France to an old town hall you’ll be horrified to hear what’s happened to the beautiful old buildings and heritage of the Palestinians, Lebanese, Syrians, Iraqis and Afghans

Yes I am sadly predictable and if you have a birthday or a special occasion you won't be surprised to find my gift is the heaviest. Sue me. I don't care.

Finally finished for @skullsandsheets.bsky.social brilliant fundraising auction for domestic violence charities. A folk collision where a 1920s tray meets a 60s dress, a 50s tray cloth sewn by a stranger meets 40s doilies & napkins embroidered by my gran, her fake pearls & my own stitches + painting

Slowly getting there, for @skullsandsheets.bsky.social amazing auction to raise funds for domestic violence charities. Adding Mari Lwyds in appliqué & embroidery to this 1950s floral tray cloth, layering fabric fragments & embellishments from other eras, enjoying the enthusiastic amateur approach

Just FYI, no AI is involved in the design, planning, layout, carving and finishing of my hand carved #lettering. AI is an abomination, polluting the world of art and information. A pox on it.

Spending my evening with some 17th-century wills, which means encountering the archaic word "sperate," as in the opposite of "desperate." (Sperate debts are debts you hope to collect, whereas you have lost hope in desperate debts.)

🛟 100 shouts. 65 people helped. 12 lives saved. Congratulations to Brighton RNLI volunteer Chris Townley on his 100th lifeboat call-out! Chris joined with no boating experience and has since spent nearly 15 days at sea helping people in difficulty. A brilliant milestone. Thank you, Chris! ❤️

On this day 1605 Guy Fawkes began his journey to London. It would take him several days because his legs were made of old tights stuffed with newspapers.

I write/edit for a living and this perspective even applies in my quite subjective field. Client: ‘AI writes well.’ Me: ‘No. It just writes better than you. That is not the same.’

Hi, you’re meant to be our advocacy group? This decision sucks. My books were stolen by AI companies, as were millions of books by other writers; it’s the biggest copyright theft in human history — there is no ethical AI when the technology itself is predicated on IP theft

Almost ready! While enjoying the glazing, I've been imagining making a dozen or two Gingerbread Alphabet Tiles for Christmas — for a group of #university people! Is it a nice idea? For those who can enjoy the idea of revival in all its nerdy glory! #christmas #corporate #edible #gift #commission

Thoughtful set up for glazing the fresh Nottingham Gingerbread Tile. Immersive experience! Organ music on 😊 #TilesOnTuesday #heritage #design #play

Today's #31daysofgraves theme is unusual. These two gravestones are in the shape of millstones and are in the churchyard of All Saints, #Hertford. Unsurprisingly they are for a #millwright, Robert Fincher and his wife Elizabeth.
