DeVious Details - Justin DeVore

Probably should introduce myself with an updated 📌 Post for #PortfolioDay! I'm Justin. I'm an Art Director / Manager in the VR games industry, but on socials I post my personal ink works from my sketchbook. Here's a 🧵 of some favorites... #ink #art #darkart #fantasy #scifi #worldbuilding #penandink

Getting back on that horse after life got in the way. Stay tuned to finally see this piece wrap up. #darkart #anxiety #stippling #lonelyuniverse #slowart

I'm slow. My art is slow art. I wouldn't have it any other way. It gives me time to evolve my design for the better. Chipping away, stepping back and staring, thinking about where to go next helps thoughtfulness and improves the end result. #lonelyuniverse #slowart #stippling #scififantasy #darkart

Back in the routine after my long weekend. Chipping away at my slow art. More dots heading your way soon. #micron #darkart #inkart #sketchbook #lonelyuniverse

Age reveal! Spent a long weekend with the family visiting my parents and figured I'd grab a shot of this piece I did back in high school while I was there. My tastes clearly haven't changed *that* much through the passage of time. #inkdrawing #robotart #throwback #illustration #penandink

The morning sunlight through my office window provides the most pleasant drawing conditions. Easy for the mind to drift away and reach a flow state. #lonelyuniverse #sketchbook #slowart #scififantasy #inkdrawing

I don't get much contiguous time to work on these in my busy life, but slow and steady wins the race I'm told. Each morning's stippling session before my day job is a little moment of meditation. #sketchbook #slowart #scififantasy #darkart #lonelyuniverse

✒️🤖 Slowly chipping away at this environment in my free time. A little bit each day. As each area fills in I go back and retouch previous areas, trying to maintain balance and build volume. #lonelyuniverse #inkdrawing #sketchbook #stippling #darkart

Back to the dot mines (and my day job) after a much overdue vacation with the family. A good bout of true digital detox. Hugged some Sequoias. Saved some Italian tourists from a bear. Now... let the dots continue! #stippling #penandink #darkart #darkfantasy #lonelyuniverse

A work trip followed by a family vacation over the past two weeks. Digitally detoxed. Ready to make more dots. carrying on with this #LonelyUniverse piece. #scifi #inkdrawing #micron #darkfantasy

Sometimes I just wing things this most foliage, but as I'm starting to fill in the back walls more I wanted to make sure any interest there was preplanned. Back to dots tomorrow... #lonelyuniverse #sketchbook #inkdrawing #scifi #darkfantasy

Another night, another peppering of points. The new area will probably get more layers of ink eventually. Need to see the values around it first for context before locking in the true volume of the area. #lonelyuniverse #inkdrawing #stippling #sketchbook #darkart

A few dots later...✒️ Found a little more time during this busy week to drop some ink to this sketchbook page. Many more days and dots ahead! #darkart #sketchbook #stippling #lonelyuniverse #inkdrawing

Dropped in containing lines and the starts of some volume in some areas in the latest #LonelyUniverse composition. Lots more dots to go! #inkdrawing #darkart #robots #sketchbook

The ink starts to flow on another entry in my #LonelyUniverse series. It's always rough when first turning that softly rendered pencil into ink. Every artist has an ugly phase somewhere in their process. This is mine. Trust the process, as they say... #scififantasy #micron #inkdrawing #sketchbook

Gradually picking away at these thumbnails when I get a few moments each day. Exploring the idea of faerie houses that have reached and embraced the industrial age. #fantasy #thumbnail #pencilart #sketchbook #fairyhouse

Slowly letting this page take form

chipping away at these in little pockets of free time seeing what emerges #sketchbook #pencilart #thumbnails #fantasy #darkart

Calling this #sketchbook page of #LonelyUniverse thumbnails complete. Capped off with a comp of Carmuke & Tobee sitting atop the preserved remains of Titan Harvester hidden amongst the upper foliage of a mammoth succulent forest. #pencilart #scifi #fantasy

Was wrapping up this page of #LonelyUniverse thumbnails when the urge to start a page for a totally different series struck. Something I've poked at before - Faerie houses that have reached the Industrial Age, embedded into fallen logs and stumps. #fairyhouse #sketchbook #scififantasy #thumbnail

Finished up this thumbnail in the morning. "The sublings had begun to divest themselves from the Collective of The Matron, but it was too late. The Great Deactivation froze them all in their tracks." #pencilsketch #robots #sketchbook #scififantasy #LonelyUniverse

Starting up a new idea on this #LonelyUniverse thumbnail page quick before bed. "The sublings had begun to divest themselves from the Collective of The Matron, but it was too late. The Great Deactivation froze them all in their tracks... #pencilsketch #robots #sketchbook #scififantasy

Another rendered #LonelyUniverse thumbnail down. This one sees our heroes discover a robotic End Times preacher frozen mid-sermon by, well, the End Times. #sketchbook #scififantasy #pencilsketch #robots

Starting a new page of #LonelyUniverse thumbnails, vertical this time. C&T find a frozen moment where a clan of robots fleeing the Great Deactivation were entangled by some particularly aggressive local flora with a taste for foreign metals. #pencilart #illustration #sketchbook #scififantasy

Took these #LonelyUniverse thumbnails as far as is useful. Explored Carmuke and Tobee encountering the frozen remains of the Galactic Robot Empire - both macro and micro. Might take these to full comps eventually. But for now: turning the page. #sketchbook #scififantasy #pencildrawing #darkart

Https://kaitlynpage.storenvy.com I love you all.

Heartbroken 🥺 💔 See you next year, Bonnaroo.

I’m always hesitant to try colour because I love the look of isolated inks.

And I'll shamelessly share my own starter pack too since there's some great ink artists in there that should be seen! go.bsky.app/Ex5YSDp

I found a lot of great line artists in this pack created by @aelestial.bsky.social : go.bsky.app/ExYzAg3

Hi Abigail, congrats on the 60k! I'm Alex, i work on games atm and i love ink and traditional media!

Graves. Continuing my series with trees🌿

Still wrestling with this scene in Photoshop. Since I’m mostly refining and tweaking details, progress feels invisible—so I’ll torture myself (and these poor creatures) a bit longer before returning to my poem illustrations. #digitalart #WIP #darkart #process
