Truth matters. Alternative facts are not facts. Misinformation is a euphemism for lies.

This is excellent. This is the kind of guidance needed in the face of a lawless regime.

We want to speak directly to members of the Military and the Intelligence Community. The American people need you to stand up for our laws and our Constitution. Don’t give up the ship.

Re: the positive impact of protests. It’s not about changing THEM. It’s about changing us. Sort of like prayer. I AM ANTIFA. RELEASE THE FILES.

Dr. Lisa Corrigan@drlisacorrigan.bsky.social

In social movement studies, we talk about how marches and protests expand the threshold of acceptable risk so that people take more and bigger social risks IN PUBLIC, EN MASSE. This is extremely important for the bourgeois white folks holding signs and building social rapport.

NEW: Records of hundreds of emergency calls from ICE detention centers obtained by WIRED—including audio recordings—show a system inundated by life-threatening incidents, delayed treatment, and overcrowding. Unpaywalled from @dell.bsky.social and @dmehro.bsky.social:

"I don't want a Disney vacation of our history! I don't a whitewashed history, I don't want a homogenized history. Tell me the wretched truth about America, because that speaks to our greatness" Senator Cory Booker 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

There are people other than Bernie Sanders who are speaking out and drawing large crowds. If you take the time to look. Although it would certainly help if MSM paid as much attention to these rallies as they did to the convicted felon’s rallies.

Keith Edwards@keithedwards.bsky.social

We need more Jon Ossoffs in the Democratic Party. This is just fantastic.

“It is often said: When the government fears the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. If that is true, then only weeks into Donald Trump’s four-year term, we are approaching tyranny.”

Anyone surprised? In fact, my guess is that was part of President Musk’s plan.

Just Jack@just-jack-1.bsky.social

Russia and China are actively recruiting federal workers unceremoniously fired by Elon Musk and the Trump Administration. Have a nice day.

The felon’s performance yesterday was a scene straight out of The Godfather. Demanding that Zelensky kiss his ring and pay for protection. Or possibly A Christmas Story. The felon playing the role of Scott Farcus (So help me God - ORANGE SKIN!!) with his toadie Grover Dill, aka JD Vance.

Rhetorical question only. (Obviously.)

Ron Filipkowski@ronfilipkowski.bsky.social

It seems to me that if Musk has proof that millions of social security checks have gone out illegally to dead people, he should be presenting that evidence in front of a grand jury under oath tomorrow instead of shitposting it on social media. When can we do this under oath?

When are the working class folks who voted for the felon going to catch on to the fact that he never was going to look out for them? But at least they don’t have a black woman running the country, right?

Congressman Greg Casar@repcasar.bsky.social

How much Elon Musk makes from the government a day: $8 million. How much a senior on Social Security gets a day: $65 Guess which budget Musk and Trump want to cut?

They’re dividing up the world. A Potsdam Conference for the 21st century.

jamelle@jamellebouie.net

i do not understand what elon and trump would be doing differently if there weren’t themselves actual agents of beijing and moscow

It’s all theater. He will brag to his supporters that he “won” something and they will eat it up.

Catherine Rampell@crampell.bsky.social

Any news outlet reporting Mexico conceded anything to Trump to get him to delay tariffs has not done its homework. Trump boasts he got Mexico to commit to stationing 10K troops at our border. Apparently he didn't realize Mexico already has 15K troops deployed there prami.ibero.mx/informes-y-i...

One of the important reasons for studying history is to avoid repeating mistakes. Too many people were not paying attention when the lessons of WWII were taught.

Hoarse Whisperer@therealhoarse.bsky.social

The passage above was written in 1940 about the fascist Italian dictator, Benito Mussolini. 2/2

His personal police force, goon squad.

The Atlantic@theatlantic.com

The most important part of Trump’s January 6 pardons isn’t specifically who is released from prison, but the meaning of the gesture: “Radical militias are free to act with impunity—as long as they’re loyal to Trump,” writes @alibreland.bsky.social. theatln.tc/HPRaVHMR

This is really important so of course MSM is ignoring it.

Jay Kuo@nycjayjay.bsky.social

The GOP in NC is a bunch of bad faith partisans, and that’s nowhere more evident than in the state Supreme Court, which has now halted the election certification of Justice Allison Riggs over a dangerous and frankly absurd claim. My write up: https://buff.ly/4gJOTqh

If Jeff Bezos had owned the Post in the early 70s, the Pentagon Papers would never have been published and no one would ever have heard about Watergate.

Trump’s threats to NATO members add clarity to whether we can expect the U.S. to stay in NATO. We aren’t going to remain in NATO member if we use military force against NATO allies. Trump is a friend to our enemies & a threat to allies. #TFETA *These aren’t insane musings in a second Trump term.

MSM is again failing us by not covering this.

Ben Wikler@benwikler.bsky.social

The crisis of democracy didn't end with Trump's victory—it got worse. When North Carolina's state Supreme Court is blocking certification of a state Supreme Court election, the house is on fire.

If the 11th circuit overturns Cannon on the Jack Smith report, and Trump files for an emergency administrative stay with SCOTUS, guess which justice can issue the administrative stay unilaterally?

If other words, if the media hadn’t become stooges for the felon.

If we weren't at such a weird moment in history, the collapse of Assad's regime would be widely understood as a huge success for the Biden administration, which pursued sanctions on Russia and Iran as well as Syria, armed Ukraine and thus weakened Russia, and supported Syrian democrats and activists

So much for the fourth estate.

Ron Filipkowski@ronfilipkowski.bsky.social

Trump to Wall Street today: “The media is tamed down a little bit. They like us much better now I think. If they don’t, then we’ll just have to take them on again, and we don’t want to do that.”

Make America Great Again. Bring back iron lungs.

Imagine, just imagine, if a Biden or Obama nominee had been heard drunkenly chanting "Kill All Jews! Kill All Jews!" (To be clear: such a scenario never happened, nor would ever happen, but just imagine!)

Donald Trump's pick to lead the Department of Defense: "Hegseth, who was married at the time…sexually pursued the organization’s female staffers…a different former employee described Hegseth being at a bar in the early-morning hours…drunkenly chanting 'Kill All Muslims! Kill All Muslims!'"

The breakdown of the wall between the state and religion may be one of the most serious consequences of the 2016 and 2024 elections.

Heidi Przybyla 🎤✍️@heidireports.bsky.social

Pay attention to Oklahoma. Bibles in classrooms isn't the big story. The same legal teams behind the seeding of Dobbs are driving a case to create religious schools fully funded by the public & they've already petitioned the Supreme Court. Understandably, everyone was focused on the election.

The Waltons don’t care. They will get their $$ no matter what. They will raise prices and cut expenses by pushing more of their employees to food stamps. Oh wait! Trump plans to cut that program. Higher prices, less income for the working poor - what could go wrong??!!

In the myriad lists of reasons why the Dems lost so badly, I never see Jaime Harrison’s name. He has been a total failure as Party chair. When is he going to be replaced? We need someone who has proven they can successfully organize and get out the blue vote. #staceyabramsfordempartychair

A handful of billionaires now have unprecedented control over banking, the food we eat, the health care we can access and, now, the information we receive. This is what oligarchy looks like.
