Curious about strategies to study how glioblastoma cohorts interact with the vasculature in the brain? Come check out Dr. Payan's poster. Z4. Right now! #harleylab #bmes2026
Come check out some #HarleyLab work at #BMES2026 on Friday! Ali Nunes, superstar Research Scientist (who is applying to grad school this cycle): tissue models of craniofacial bone regeneration. Dr. Btirrany Payan, postdoc extraordinaire: granular hydrogel models of glioblastoma progression.
See you in Magnolia 78 at 9:15. Ali Nunes will share some really exciting work on developing an in vitro wound model to study graft integration #harleylab #bmes2026

NEW: A ProPublica data analysis shows that delays resulting from USPS’ cost-cutting measures have endangered the validity of ballots mailed in rural areas. Counties that voted for Trump in 2024 have been most affected.

Together with other scientists I’m suing the 🇺🇸 US National Institutes of Health for violating our 1st Amendment rights & censoring our health science. I’m ready to shine a light on the darkest days. Buckle up, read on. This gets pretty wild… THREAD
By terminating research grants like Kelton's to censor views it doesn’t like, the NIH is blocking scientists from work that would advance public health for all of us. We're pushing back. Tell Congress to demand the NIH restore the grants and stop its censorship campaign at aclu.org/nih_censorship_

democrats embracing transphobia earns them nothing and shrinks their own voter base, period. it's bad policy and it's bad electoral strategy, so stop fucking harassing trans people sounding the alarm about this and start harassing the dem candidates who are trying to lose

SCOOP: 'Tommy' from the now-viral exchange with Abdul El-Sayed is Thomas Teepell, a former staffer for Republican Senator Josh Hawley with close ties to Christian Nationalist Sean Feucht. He's the son of a former Bobby Jindal staffer whose consultant work was instrumental in getting Hawley elected.

I've spent nearly a decade researching and writing this book, so I'm going to be excited to show it off. I guess I could've fed my research into AI and had it quickly shit out something that sort of resembles a book. But it's not as good as the real thing and I don't get to take pride in the work.

Never thought I'd have to say this but there's an inherent joy in working hard at something, slowly getting better at it and taking pride in the results. And you'll find that other people will be impressed by the results of your dedication too, in a way they will not be impressed by your AI shit

I swear to god so much of this is literally just people confusing measles and chicken pox
Minnesota Republican state Sen. Bill Lieske: "Back in the day when the measles vaccine didn't exist, measles was a joke! ... yes, there are increases cases. How many of those are actually resulting in deaths? Are they just going home with the sniffles? Back in the day, people had measles parties."

@kateclancy.bsky.social's book is a compassionate, evidence-based look at pregnancy loss—how and why it happens, and why the assurances of the medical industry don't reflect the reality. Read the introduction here: buff.ly/eJxivlx

3. DOGE made false claims about employee performance in order to fire them, but did not want to put their names to these emails. So they would coerce civil servants into doing so. If the civil servants refused, they were fired. (Not just DOGE, other Trump appointees like Kash Patel did this).

Never in recorded history have corporations made more than they do today. Never in recorded history have workers taken home less of those profits than they do today. That's Trump's economy in a nutshell. www.axios.com/2026/10/13/e...

Looking forward to the same scrutiny being impartially applied to Elon Musk and Melania Trump, whose immigration documents are much much worse than anything alleged about Omar's father
When Dems talk about the Ilhan Omar situation, they need to stop using language that implies that Omar might have done anything wrong. Trump is not "investigating" Omar. They are trying to denaturalize and deport a sitting Congressmember by scrutinizing decades old paperwork from when she was a kid
Why is it not surprising that the only MIT faculty to go on record here are women? www.cambridgeday.com/2026/10/07/m...

This quote exactly describes our current USA science policy right now. I was stopped in my tracks while listening this morning. Please educate yourself about what is happening. The destruction of USA science is horrific under this administration.
@noamross.net on NPR this morning. www.npr.org/2026/10/09/n... "I am always enthusiastic about more investment into science, but you could think of this as someone planting a tree somewhere where THEY just burned down a forest. We've lost so much scientific investment under this administration."

strong statement from the Association for Human Mathematicians. "Releasing over 700 files at once is not a demonstration of scholarship, but a demonstration of power. We urge mathematicians to discontinue their work with OpenAI and to return to a vision of science that centers human understanding."
