Waiting for a train to come off the branch and leave the single platform that we need. Everyone’s already stood up. Awkward.

In keeping with its Halloween theme, my local ‘Spoons’ clients have subjected me to a 20 minute talk on how to die by suicide and capital punishment. Good morning!

@jonathanpienews.bsky.social that was a very funny and inspiring show in Colchester this evening. My first time going out in the city but it won’t be the last. Great audience, apart from the 2 ladies to my left (physically speaking) who went at the interval! Who does that?

“I meant any questions about the job.”

‘Wicker’ stars Alexander Skarsgård as a man made entirely of wicker, complete with a rock-hard wicker dick. But what about splinters? Bacteria? Degradation? Would it be advisable, from a sexual-health perspective, to mount a basket dick? We asked a gynecologist: vulture.visitlink.me/DNQwX5

Is it just me or is Ellie & Nastasia weak af? “If I want nature I can look at my screen saver.” Good line but was this written in the 90s? And I bet there’ll be at least one more overlong ‘Internet nails’ bit too. #bbc2

Recently I learned that several of the early Brian Eno albums have been remixed into Dolby Atmos. Not played them through my 5.1 system yet but impressions via headphones are good. Still using the 2004 DSD remasters as sources.

Was wondering which book they’d got Gary Oldman to pretend to read in this week’s #slowhorses and turns out it’s a fake by the author Claire Houlahan … who is listed as a graphic designer for Slow Horses. Nice one Claire.

Is it the law that all YouTube videos must now contain a reference to ‘what nobody talks about?’ And why is nobody talking about it?

I watched a YouTube video yesterday that implied that to get a pension in the US you have to be working at your retirement date, otherwise you get nothing. Can this be true? In the UK, your occupational pension is built up for your benefit.

Alan Davies’ show was alternately hilarious and sad, with some quite long sections of serious material about when he was abused as a child. It was nice to see it in a (stunning) venue near where he grew up (Chingford).

Travelling Cambridge to Liverpool Street via Stansted Airport gave me the opportunity to enjoy my custard bougatsa from Mill Road. Delicious. Now I’m off to see TV’s Alan Davies at the Walthamstow Granada.

My sack is bulging with a bumper set of finds in the chazzas in Cambridge. Nice to see all the stores around the Grafton Centre are still open, when the mall itself is almost totally bereft of retail.

Have you made up statistics to suit your view? Do you hold outlandish views that no civilised government would ever implement? If so, the Nick Ferrari breakfast show would love to hear from you. #LBC

I despise RFK jr more than anyone else in the regime, including trump. From a philosophical & ethical standpoint, his lies result in death becoming a form of intolerance. They morphed from standard misinformation into a deliberate assault on the foundational structures of a safe, rational society.

When "white sauce" in fish pie Contains cheese, it’s a lie. That’s a mornay.

Anon Opin@anonopin.bsky.social

I hate it when food presenters describe a white sauce with cheese in it as a béchamel. It's not. A béchamel is a simple white sauce. Add cheese and it's a mornay. But let's not using the French words and just call one a plain white sauce and the other a cheese sauce.

Catching up on Live from The Lycett Arms. I was impressed with Late Night Lycett when it started – great energy. But this? Fucking hell. It’s gone backwards. The only bit that mainly worked was the toast competition with Guz Khan.

I couldn’t say how many times I’ve walked past this black and disused Edwardian post box at Cambridge Station without noticing it. #PostboxSaturday
