I will always be confused about how the US has built dozens of systems exactly like this but no planners ever thought to do it outside of an airport

Let’s take a 58-second ride between stations on Copenhagen’s automated light metro.

King County struggles to provide services to the unincorporated areas that exist now. On top of being environmentally reckless, advocating for UGA expansion is incredibly fiscally irresponsible.

Shared streets come in all shapes and sizes. This Copenhagen example is wide and has a lot of parking but also has a nice portal treatment and spaces that invite pedestrians into the street.

Copenhagen asked one of two questions: 1) What if we made a Dutch-style stop but put the shelter on the sidewalk? 2) What if we made a Toronto-style stop but provided more landing space for bus users?

The thing about Copenhagen bike infrastructure…it’s not the best (every Dutch municipality is better) but it’s enough to make bikes the most practical mode for many trips.

Pedestrianization of Strøget faced intense resistance from business owners and local citizens when it was proposed in 1962.

the assembly didn't pass a motion approving it, so I can only say this as an individual, rather than in my capacity as the vice chair of the Pike Place Constituency, but: everyone who attends a Constituency meeting is a member of the Market community :)

Update: I was wrong, there will be a special council meeting on Monday to approve Saka's traffic safety bill and Bob Kettle will be putting forward an amendment to strip out the historic district provisions. Someone tipped off the preservation folks about this so they had more time to organize.

There is no meeting next week on this, and the amendment has already been approved, but sure.

The Clarke/Barnes proposal to add a mass-timber tower atop the podium of the existing Doyle Building at Pine and 2nd has actually grown from 12 to 18 stories since last year. But condo owners next door are once again coming out hard to get the project cancelled to protect their views.
