Sometimes it just dawns on me how deeply weird and wild this situation is. A company making a crappy, unchecked and badly designed product, but thanks to pre-existing science fiction narratives they can aggressively tout their own failures and inadequacies as reasons for self-regulation

1/ Saturday's Ukrainian attack on Omsk in Siberia, at a distance of over 2,500 km, is causing fresh angst among Russian warbloggers over the poor performance of Russia's air defences. "[We're being hit] further and deeper," one complains. ⬇️ bsky.app/profile/kyiv...

Long-range strike drones hit Russia’s Omsky Kauchuk chemical plant and an Ozon logistics hub in Omsk, sparking major fires. Located over 2,500 km from Ukraine, the Siberian sites were evacuated as blazes erupted across the industrial facilities. Videos: Telegram channels

So the gist here seems to be that two political advisors in Netanyahu’s inner circle have a comms business and are working to encourage far right politics in Europe & steer economic dealings at national levels. In consort with Axel Springer (Germany’s Murdoch) & with tech fash.

When public servants give evidence in a public hearing, about jobs that the public pays them to do, their answers should be direct, unambiguous, and detailed. That is the contract between the public and government. Any suggestion otherwise goes against that agreement.

Besides being racist and false, this suggests science is only carried out by a few geniuses who claim prizes, whereas in reality science relies on smart and diligent people committed to collaboration and discovery without special recognition.

It absolutely blows my mind that this hasn't happened yet. Not only because it is what any decent human being should do, but because the person saying it would be regarded as a hero by millions for the rest of their lives. Seems like a good trade-off for losing their precious 'access'.
