"I enjoyed publishing some cheeky ZKPs, but I don’t think it’s the right strategy moving forward. The benefits are negligible, and the costs are many. We should just publish openly." 🚀

Blog post: "The French have the Quantum Circuits" algassert.com/post/2602 André Schrottenloher just published a preprint showing how to construct quantum ECDLP circuits with costs similar to the ones in our zero knowledge proofs.

Genuine question as I am not up to date: were there major innovations in neutral atom computing that circumvent the problem of having to physically shuttle atoms, leading to unfortunate (logical) clock rates?

Thinking about a career in #quantumcomputing but don't have a #quantum #physics degree? 🤔 You might be surprised! Our head of talent, Emily, shares crucial insights in her latest post, debunking common myths and offering practical advice for anyone looking to enter this exciting field... 🧪🧵1/5

Another way to view it: Great! Now we have a very good initial state in form of that MPS to run quantum algorithms on 🙃

My recommendation: read the paper, an excellent work marking IMHO another milestone for quantum chemistry, congratulations to all authors. To add to the cited post, the most important conclusions of the work are highlighted in the picture, a breakdown will be provided in the comments.

Consider this a warning. Factoring small numbers is a bad benchmark. Because the key to factoring small numbers isn’t making the quantum computer "work well". That’s the key to factoring *large* numbers. For small numbers it's sufficient to generate a far-too-large circuit, and light the fuse.

If you go about spoofing quantum simulation results, then please do it right. I would not be surprised if people eventually beat these simulation results with reasonable resources and in reasonable time, but for the moment I dont see evidence that that is already the case.

In particular I find it pretty weird to contribute to such a news article underlining the story that dwaves simulations are spoofed (using laptops!) and then go "well we didnt actually simualte it in full, but we could, we just dont want to" 🤷🤷🤷

It starts with arxiv.org/abs/2403.00910 in March last year. The author list includes people from dwave doing the experiments and also external experts in classical simulation trying to beat the annealers with classical methods. You can argue about semantics but it seems a genuine attempt at fairness

For a little bit of light in these trying times, I present to you: quantum memes! These are made by my Physics 438a class for extra credit on their midterm (which they are taking at this moment). As always, I take all credit for good memes and no blame for bad ones.
