I keep hearing today that Manchester United are the biggest club in the world. I would beg to differ. Seems to me that there are a lot of people living in the past, on the fumes of previous glories. You can't rebuild anything if you don't recognise where you are. No delusion, just realism.

The digital euro will bring the benefits of cash into the digital age: a secure form of public money that protects privacy and is accepted across the euro area, says ECB Executive Board member Piero Cipollone to Milano Finanza. Read the interview link.europa.eu/PFJjgx

This is the position from a game played between Sumiya Shinguun IM and Kazybek Nogerbek GM at the 2026 Atyrau Open. At this point, Shinguun found an extraordinary "invisible" move which gives White a winning advantage. The Times' David Howells picked it as his "move of the year". Which is it?

Stress tests cannot predict the next crisis, but they can reveal weaknesses and improve our capacity to prepare, says Supervisory Board member Patrick Montagner. As risks evolve, system-wide stress testing must become broader and more agile link.europa.eu/FTgtbM

Connections Puzzle #1219 🟪🟪🟪🟪 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟨🟨🟨🟨 Ok, so I guessed the purple one but given a previous employment many moons ago, I got the link alright as I was reading them. Not an easy connections game today.

An announcement from the Premier League: "The result of today's match involving Liverpool and Manchester City has been declared null and void by the independent panel. Cheating cannot prosper." A statement by ProRef: "We picked the wrong referee again. Sorry"

I would like to hear a lot more booing and invective from the Liverpool fans in this game. Score after 11 minutes: Liverpool 0 Cheats. 0

Charles Leclerc is being completely selfish here. He doesn't understand team strategy and Ferrari are far, far too slow to issue a team order. Ridiculous really.

Effectiveness and simplification go hand in hand, says Supervisory Board Vice-Chair Frank Elderson. By focusing on material risks and ensuring the most relevant weaknesses are addressed without delay, supervisors can make the dialogue with banks simpler and more effective link.europa.eu/DhbQ3g

From BBC Sport: "Manchester City will claim as part of their appeal that key sponsorship deals were funded by the Abu Dhabi government, rather than the club's owners." A couple of things spring to mind here: 1. Why didn't they say this at the original hearing? 2. State Aid rules or the post-

So, here it begins - the UAE fight back - Etihad Airways publish a statement I dictating that they are exploring their legal options regarding the EPL. Despite not being mentioned at all, the airline decides that they have somehow been damaged as a result of the published redacted City report.

Given the guilty verdicts against Manchester City and the very serious nature of those charges, assuming an appeal is rejected, the only appropriate sanction to apply to the club is that it is expelled from the EPL. The club can then apply to join the EFL and enter at the lowest level-

-any further delay damages the sport and the EPL. If Glasgow Rangers can be expelled from the SPL following its administration, such penalties can be applied to a club such as City too in their circumstances.

Just saw an ad for Jamie Oliver's Channel 4 programme "20 minute meals" In a segment, Jamie proudly proclaims a dish he has made as "so good!" It got me thinking; I've never heard any TV chief say anything negative about what they have cooked on TV. Can't see Jamie saying "that's a load of ****!"

So, I've just turned on RTÉ 2 TV. Ireland are currently beating Israel 3-0 (or 0-3 as it is technically an away game). I thought RTÉ were not planning to show the game with commentary, but they seem to have picked up a UK feed.

Can I just make it clear that Sky Sports News are not reporting the Manchester City story properly. Manchester City have been found guilty of breaches. It is not "reports that the club has breached". Stop sanitising that club.

For the last 35 years I've been pointing out that if you play this song in the style of Vacuum Cleaner by Tintern Abbey, it becomes There's No Other Way by Blur.
