Authors: how do you compartmentalize the current existential dread you feel so you can work on projects without every scene becoming a metaphor against late-stage capitalism, racism, fascism, christian nationalism, (list goes on)?

All I’ve come up with so far is to have other ongoing projects that lean hard into those themes to try and “purge” it from my brain long enough to make some small progress on my older, more positive stuff, but it’s becoming less and less effective as I get more worn down.

I know “art is a reflection of its time” but I still need creativity to be my escapism/coping mechanism sometimes, y’know?

and everyone thinks their peers are doing better than them. The secret to happiness (one of them, anyway) is to just live your life for you. Try not to care so much what others think of you - they’re not on your journey, only you are.

I struggled for years to find my own identity vs who I was “supposed to” be. Not all of that is on me, but a lot of it is, and that’s the only thing I can control. Here’s the truth that took me much too long to internalize: no one has all their life in order, we all struggle with the same things,

I’ve had many better and more productive therapy sessions in salons and tattoo parlors than I ever have in a therapist office and that’s why I propose these services should be covered by health insurance. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

Blessed Mabon! On the midpoint between the bright and dim halves of the year, may the balance of light and dark bring harmony to your spirit, abundance to your home, and peace to your heart.

For any other US users who are multilingual, I highly recommend enabling those languages in your feed; it’s a great way to get an outside view of our country’s current situation from the perspective of the average human.

At this point if I die early, I hope I get reincarnated as a worm or something so I don’t have to watch this circus anymore. And bonus - thanks to the state of this country I’m already used to being force-fed shit all day.

So I started a new hobby last night. Even though I’ve never attempted to paint anything in my life (other than my own fingers in kindergarten) I decided to try acrylic paints on some of my plain-white 3d-printed TTRPG terrain pieces. This stone plaza was my first attempt, kinda proud of it tbh.

Latest #gardening life hack: a standard hot glue stick is the perfect diameter for planting seeds. Draw some measurement lines and get perfect holes at the correct depth every time.

Moving day for this lil dude. 🎵 Cut my plants into pieces, so I can make some more. Propagation, no seedlings. Just need some dirt and a couple free evenings. 🎵

Take a deep breath. Drink some water. Take off your shoes and stand outside in the sun. Focus on the simple moments of peace and happiness throughout your day and let everything else fade into the background noise. Reach out and talk to safe people. If you don’t have any, I’ll be your friend.

You are up to date.
