If that was true then Eddie Izzard, RuPaul, and Eric Idle would all be equally feminine from the PoV of straight culture? A woman kicking a ball would be equally as homosexual as kissing a woman or working as a day laborer, and I guess if she wore a dress or pants is what would make her trans?

I wish I could be as optimistic as the author but nerd circles are still ridiculously consumerist and bullyable (stop it) and until there's a kind of cross-fandom community building (which is the anime community of anything) scalpers are going to jump from fandom to fandom.

People are interpreting my post as being critical of Truman but I said it was bleak because I agree with his analysis. Don't really have an opinion on the guy, but as someone who's been running a business for a decade I think he's at least somewhat correct on what sells.

I guess my problem with the way a lot of indie TTRPGs talk about the interface between rules and narrative is that they like to invoke "the Fiction" as though it's something that has objective existence independently of what a particular player happens to be imagining at a particular moment. (1/3)

In retrospect, "animated series based on live action movies" was a load bearing sub-genre of cartoons. Even if they weren't good, studios greenlighting 52 episode show orders of stuff like this meant a healthier industry.
