I like obscure old video games and make a lot of videos about them. I've documented all of the Nintendo Famicom library and I'm currently working on the PC Engine.

Given the current era we're in, I kind of want to do something on some of the many, many "Here's a toolkit you can use to make some games!" releases out there through the 80s and 90s. It's an overlooked topic, but it would be very time consuming because you know I'd have to make a game in each...

Of the top of my head I can think of the Pinball Construction Set, Klik 'n Play, Dezaemon, The Bard's Tale Construction Set, Adventure Construction Set, RPG Tsukuuru, and I know there's at least half a dozen more that were commercially released.

That's before you get into edge cases like Duke 3D coming with a copy of the Build editor and other games that had their own internal editors to make your own levels. Of course, even that's become a bit of a lost art...

When I was in Austria a few years ago I wanted to go see it, but I was one week before the tourist season started and so it was closed to visitors so I ate at a restaurant in the town below the mountain. Not shedding tears over this historic site burning down, though.

FWIW, I found it amusing that Hitler's vacation house was turned into a cafe and monument to the US capturing it. The idea of tourists clogging up Hitler's toilet is just funny to me.

LSD: Revamped version 1.0 is now available on itch - the game is done! There is also an important announcement about the future of the project. Link below ⬇️

Most of my viewers say that they're an Efera rather than a Jiliora, which is kind of what I'd expect for people watching videos about PC Engine games.

Efera & Jiliora: The Emblem from Darkness is all about two women, traveling together, having fantasy adventures and being just very good friends. Nothing else. It's also a real disasterpiece of a game.... youtu.be/0jEL98c0n5s

Gambler Jiko Chuushinha got its first new game in almost thirty years this year. In it he fights mahjong battles against Donald Trump and Elon Musk. Weirdly, not even remotely the first mahjong game where you play against political figures.

Maybe my favorite photo from this collection is the booth for Shenmue at Tokyo Game Show Autumn 1999 It's a forklift. It's just a forklift.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the stories about how expensive the next console revisions will be were leaked as trial balloons to see how hostile consumers were to the pricing. I also suspect that there's people at Sony and Microsoft who were nervous before who are now in full freak out mode.

It appears tha Regis Galland is preparing to sell his SuperGrafx motherboard (replacement for use in with PC Engine). He;s ordering the parts, followed by the boards, and the product page is already prepared. www.polykubos.fr/en/video-gam...

And it's not like the GameBoy homebrew scene is two guys keeping the flame alive. It's incredibly active. McDonald's released a homebrew GameBoy game a few years ago...

Folks on this videogame podcast *stunned* to find out people are still releasing homebrew games for systems as old as the Gameboy. wait 'til I tell 'em about the new Atari 2600 homebrew I purchased recently

My Steam wishlist is all weird mid-10s revivals of old games that were kind of bad, sold poorly, and were abandoned. This way if someone ever remembers to discount those games again in the future, I can pick them up.

For Random Gane Saturday, I have a sealed copy of Alexey's Dwice that I just paid a whole $5 for (plus shipping). It is very likely to be the final Alexey Pajitnov game that you can buy a physical copy of.

Currently been in line for a donut for fifteen minutes. It's not even the good donut shop in town, just the one close to the grocery store so I could stop after shopping. I'd leave but it's impossible to get out of their lot without going through.

My mother: "You used to like to write. You should write another book." Me: "I've got more than enough on my plate at the moment..." My mother: "Oh, it could be about a person who gets sucked into a video game world!" Me: [Transmits an angry glare through the phone so hard it burns a hole.]

I think that Jantei Monogatari 2 might be the first game released on multiple CDs; disk one was released in February 1992 and disk two was April. I'm not aware of anyone else doing this until the FMV era really kicked in a year or two later. Of course it's a mahjong game.
