REEL formed when three refugees from The Psychedelic Duelling Wars congealed in the psychic wreckage of a Somerset studio to record Wild Garlick electronica on adapted bits of farm machinery, petrol cans & sine wave generators https://psych-duelling.uk

The Margaret Qualley starring film Love of Your Life (2026) features as a key plot device disintegrating tape loops that aren’t The Disintergration Loops… they were RIGHT THERE but they got Dustin O’Halloran to Basinski some up. Weird when they do stuff like that.

Amazing, really that no one’s attempted a proper WR biopic… sort of thing you could imagine Christopher Nolan doing…

My apologies to anyone else who’s old enough not to want to be reminded just how fucking long ago it was, but: today is the 41st anniversary of the release of Cloudbusting—so it must be time to tell you about Wilhelm Reich and his orgasmatron...

Raging against the dying of the LPs by finding time to play Swans albums right the way through (on CD). Today it has been Birthing, played loud & soundtracking chores, sitting, dancing, more chores, cooking, cleaning and finally just listening with my eyes closed.

I am not joking when I say this. Soylent Green is now very, very good and these soulless dorks need to (literally) get into it.

Performative reading update: more people talk to you if reading books with colourful covers than books with dark ones. Small sample but seems significant. Tried some performative reading in Hay on Wye but competition there was hard. Stag Dance probably not best option.

I read books a lot in public. Subways, bus stops, parks, waiting in queues, sitting in pubs waiting for friends who are always late etc, but I’m hearing a lot about ‘performative reading’ & I’d like to get into that. Any tips for a beginner that could elevate my reading in this way? #BookSky 💙📚

Liked Romeo and Juliet but couldn’t get on with Lorna Doone, Under Milk Wood was cool, as was Lord of the Flies and Of Mice and Men. Didn’t like The Old Man & The Sea but To Kill A Mockingbird was great. Couldn’t get on with Twelfth Night but liked Hamlet & Journey’s End. UK

US and UK friends, I'm curious: What books were part of your required reading for highschool literature class? Which of them do you remember loving, and which did you loathe?

Watched Agnes Varda’s Le Bonheur (Happiness) 1964 in a v rare break from football & it turned out to be devastating, sad & very beautiful in a different way. Slow(ish) cinema but mesmerisingly shot & you like everyone in it, despite everything. Very French, very mid-60s. A more complex time. #film
