Hey Molls. Here are a couple of things I read recently, which you may find helpful. I don't think there's an easy playbook of "just do this," but a toolkit of principles: wagingnonviolence.org/2024/11/10-t...

I don't know that there is a definitive line to cross that makes you say, "I live in a police state now" but when masked gunmen can routinely brutalize the public, citizen or immigrant alike, with impunity, you have reached that point.

Kavanaugh stops in action: ICE tackled a non-verbal kid near his school, left him with injuries requiring surgery, and then left the scene when they realized he wasn't the person they were looking for www.independent.com/2026/10/23/i...

Get a load of this fuckery. Some entity registered in Wyoming is sending trans advocacy and resource pamphlets to families in Texas, *impersonating a real advocacy org* presumably to whip voters back into a frenzy about the imaginary effort to trans all their kids.

Ramaswamy has produced an attack ad weaponizing the rape of his opponent, Amy Acton, when she was 12 years old. It features Acton’s mother, who abandoned Acton after she was raped by her step-father, fleeing the state with her husband. Here is the corporate money helping fund that ad.

Replying to @joolia.bsky.social

So much of the anti-woke vibe shift was just a demand by abusers and their allies that the victims of abuse shut up already, laundered into politesse by magazine editors

So, has anyone solved the question of “which dental floss works for very tight spaces without shredding and getting caught in your teeth?” Now that PFAS and Teflon are out, and apparently that was the only thing keeping floss from feeling like it’s sticky and gritty between your teeth. :P

Elon and the Epstein class have no intention of repaying the national debt. They are actively trying to crash society in order to set themselves up to be feudal lords. This isn't me joking. It is their literal plan

That moment when you consider driving to the specialist’s office on your lunch break to get a paper copy of the referral they just can’t seem to successfully fax. And maybe offer to doublecheck that the nurse is pushing the right buttons.

So, ended up being able to get a nurse to scan the referral and EMAIL it to me, and then I had to go to a print shop and have them print, then fax it. Success. Still pretty frustrating. Like how is even this old technology getting worse, or people just have no capacity to troubleshoot errors.

Ahh, the age old question. Ignorance or Malice? Hubby found out today that one of his "emergency" tickets from last sprint, that was basically doing UI (display the output of this API as HTML for a result page) work for someone else's extensive product integration was actually not needed/wanted.

View full thread

OR, they expected hubby's ticket to fail because the integration wasn't done & that would be a black mark on his reputation, undeservedly. Or they thought he'd disregard process & fix all their fuck ups & take over the integration & get it all working and not get any credit or acknowledgement...

and still come up with some pissy "process cuck" manager complaints about how he went out into the jungle with a machete & sheer force of will and discovered Machu Pichu despite them. 🤷‍♀️ The audacity to harp about programmer productivity while this stupid shit is going on, is off the charts.

So... how exactly does someone create a ticket like this, for work that didn't need to be done? And who decided to split it out from the existing product (that was failing & behind schedule) and give just this piece of bullshit to a different developer?

I'm probably giving them WAY too much credit. But as an outside observer it seems like someone was trying to create a ticket that they could use to scapegoat someone else for the integration not coming in on time...

So now, at sprint retro he was told that code needs to be removed... the work that completely encapsulated the scope of the ticket, but he did have to set up 3 dev environments & do significant code archeology & bug fixes to get the API to do what it was supposed to do to show the HTML.

It's been quite a week, and it's only Tuesday. Grateful to the universe though, that the medical specialist my husband had at the top of his preference list had a cancellation, and I managed to get him booked in TOMORROW instead of six weeks from now.

When Ukraine destroys Russian data centers, hoards of aggressive right-wing bots disappear & the internet becomes friendlier. So much of politics is driven by the internet & so much of the internet is driven by Russians who want to hurt us. Shouldn’t we do something about that, given that we know it

We had a sizable tree branch come down in the middle of the night, but thankfully it came down in the middle of the yard and only damaged some of my plant pots and shepard’s hooks. No dealing with pissy neighbors or insurance. 🙏

The NYPD just released surveillance video of the ICE shooting (which occurred off camera). Two men in civilian clothes run up to a car with guns drawn. One second later, one man begins smashing the butt of his gun into the driver’s side window. The driver appears to panic and hit the gas.
