Everyone says: "You don't have to" "I don't want to bother you" "I couldn't put you out" "I'll be okay, really" But no one, ever, in 40 years, has ever said "I don't want you to come." I'm sure there are exceptions, but they are rare. Don't make people ask you. Go.

I've learned over the years that when someone calls in distress, I shouldn't ask if I should come over. Instead I say "I'm already in the car, unless you don't want me there" because people are terrified to bother each other, especially when they're already vulnerable. The call *is* the ask. Go.

She doesn't take any crap. And they don't like that. Plain and simple. I don't agree with her on everything but I have respect - she stands by what she says and she speaks and acts with conviction and power. They're just threatened by it.
