A tough thing in explaining to people why having children is enjoyable is that all the bad stuff is very easy to explain (lost sleep, lost time, more sickness, less sex, etc. etc.) whereas most of the really good stuff whispers.

Happy coming out day to all! Coming out of the closet is something we do for ourselves, but it is also an act of immense kindness to all. Everyone lives better in a world where everyone feels free to live as their authentic selves. Without others coming out, I would never have found myself.

In order of reading- that middle row really should have gotten me to gender questioning, but alas. And yeah, I DO NOT LIKE that my intellectually honest answer here includes Mormon propaganda by Orson Scott Card.

Sometimes I feel embarrassed to admit to the toll I feel from having a government that uses slurs for me, as the cis folk around me don't even register it. I want to choke back that embarrassment. This shit matters, and is indeed an impeachable offense.

Dr. Samantha Hancox-Li@sjshancoxli.liberalcurrents.com

as longtime readers know i am a longtime hegseth hater, but i think bouie is right here to note that hegseth's remark that "trannies" are out of the military is, by itself, an impeachable offense obviously much else besides, but i want to dwell on this

Amen. I like my basic first name- I'm a basic girl. And I changed my last name to match my wife and daughter, which feels entirely right. But I tried to use my middle name to appease my mom, which didn't work, and I regret not taking the chance to get a little weird.

Reading Cameron's Memory Alpha page just makes me grin like an idiot at random details. A trans girl standing in for Jeri Ryan! Playing Kira on a promotional tour! APPEARING as a Trill on posters for the Vegas ride!!!

My Nine Games that made me who I am chart says many things about me, but none louder than "I had a computer but not a video game system growing up." (M:TG is Shandalar, and Neverwinter Nights is specifically the A Dance With Rogues module)

Similarly, traditional accounts of the AIDS epidemic that focus on the genocide against "gay and bi men" gnaw at my soul. Especially coming from genuinely decent people. Erasure within erasure within atrocity.

Ngl it feels like genuinely being insane sometimes being a part of a class of holocaust victims that no one knows about. Like what do you even do to recontexualize that for people. Especially in the context of “trans people are a recent thing”.

This is very good advice, with the caveat that not doing an emotional thing because you understand that it *does you absolutely no good* can be hard as fuck.

In general, (as a trans person who has been stuck in this trap) it does you absolutely no good to think about your transition / dysphoria as uniquely worse than other trans people. It's incel mentality and it lowers your self esteem and also makes you an unpleasant person to be around.

I was feeling really smug about how well I had endured a morning of lip electrolysis....and then as I parked I realized my electrologist had gotten turned around and only done half my scheduled time. Oops.

Pioneering new horizons of fuck this guy.

"Gov Gavin Newsom over the weekend vetoed legislation aimed at protecting providers of gender-affirming care from being extradited to face charges for doing so by another state." He was "worried about constraints on the governor's power to approve extraditions". www.ebar.com/story/170505...

shoutout to infinite mac, without which this would not have been possible www.them.us/story/early-...

I've switched over Infinite Mac's classic Mac emulation to recently-released and awesome Snow, which unblocks A/UX emulation: infinitemac.org?filter=aux There's a behind-the-scenes blog post at blog.persistent.info/2026/09/infi... detailing this and other site updates.

I'm in a kind of ambiguous semi-passing place where I can't tell if the understated reaction I get to telling basically-ok cis people I'm trans is "yeah, obviously" or "Wait, what? Be cool....be cool....treat this as not a big deal....".

Option C, so fucking confused. But also impressed? In a lot of ways, I have the life that 'he' didn't let himself even dream of. And not just the queer parts (though yeah, the queer parts- being a mom especially)- my being a TCG designer would blow his mind.

My wife received her new book in the mail yesterday (yay!), and the acknowledgements is the first time I'm being named and gendered as myself in a real-ass publication thing-y. It's pretty cool.

For decades, folks response to this has been "maybe just make more of The Muppet Show?" And then last year they *did that* and it was good and it was popular, and we are still in the same damn place....

DiscussingFilm@discussingfilm.net

There are currently no active conversations for a full ‘MUPPET SHOW’ series revival. Disney, The Muppets Studio and Point Grey Pictures have had difficulties with deciding on a premise for the series that they can all agree on. (Source: Deadline)

That Angel somehow made this human being unappealing and dull is a crime against something or other.

When Vincent Kartheiser (Pete from Mad Men) was a twink in the 90s he looked like a lesbian who cut a trail of ruin through a mid-size metropolitan area.

We've been reading the kid the Warrior Cats books at bedtime (for us olds, Redwallish but cats?), and she ripped the book out of my hand when she realized there was introductory reference material to pore over. Adult fandom can suck, but kid fandom is magic.

Post a picture of you from another era. (Playing Cladwell in a college production of Urinetown- in retrospect the most fun I ever had embodying masculinity because if was draggy and camp as fuck)

If you are ever watching a movie and a male character looks sad, you can lean over to your viewing partner and quietly whisper "he's experiencing the male loneliness crisis." You can do this an infinite number of times, and also have it done to you, and it is always equally funny. Just so you know.

It's frustrating that two years into transition (and 40 years into living) I still have a lot of days where I feel like I *want* to be a woman rather than days of just being me. It is admittedly a comfort that there is never a day where I want to be a man. I mean, ew.

I started playing Zero Company, somehow my first big RPG-ish video game since transition, and it's a pretty delightful rush styling my avatar like me? Don't get me wrong, it's the same styling I've used for RPG protagonists for over a decade, but now IT MEEEEE!!!

I am not a good driver. My reflexes are garbage, and the kind of concentration driving requires lines up poorly with my skills. BUT I USE MY FUCKING TURN SIGNALS! I DON'T DECIDE WHETHER OR NOT THIS SPECIFIC TURN MERITS USING THEM, I JUST PRESS THE FUCKING BUTTON!

Good thread. RHPS I'm largely ambivalent on- Tim Curry is such a great and fully committed screen presence that it kind of cancels out the script in my brain? For me this work is Hedwig- a beloved text for so many queer people that twigs all my "Is this how the cis see us?" ick. I hate it!

May “Bunny” Peterson 🦄@goddessblade.bsky.social

Look, I’m a trans woman who has liked Rocky Horror Picture Show for years, but one thing I wish is that non-transfems had a lot more compassion for trans women who are critical of RHPS instead of getting defensive about their connection to the show.

Taking a look at my every day makeup, two years into transition. I think it's in an OK place? pretty subtle, and I at least do see some feminization (and looking less like a tomato). I do need to start defaulting to a bolder lip though...

My electrologist today told me that I definitely convey "that's just some woman" in my day to day vibes, which is especially affirming as she is the one person who always sees me without makeup, and moreover was incinerating a mustache follicle while saying this.
