usually if you ask experts why an empire fell they’ll say it’s nuanced and multifaceted, so i think it’s kind of cool that with America future historians will get to just say like “oh they took the idiot train to moronsville”

Question for Mike Flood: With $450 million being allocated to Alligator Alcatraz, and ICE burning through $8.4 million a day to illegally detain people—How much does it cost for fascism? How much do the tax payers have to pay for a fascist country?

The was an old Soviet joke: -Why was our flight delayed by one hour? - One of our pilots saw the problem with one engine, but now it’s alright. - You changed engine in just one hour? - No, we’ve changed the pilot. That’s not a joke in the U.S. anymore.

Larry Summers: "This is way beyond anything Nixon ever did ... this is the stuff of democracies giving way to authoritarianism. Firing statisticians goes with threatening the heads of newspapers, launching assaults on universities, launching assaults on law firms. This is really scary stuff."

Detainees at Florida’s “Alligator Alcatraz” are on a hunger strike over what they call inhumane, dangerous conditions. Some haven’t eaten in 10 days. One of them, Pedro Hernández, was hospitalized and still refuses food until they are treated with dignity.

I am still astonished that ANY person on planet earth would choose to vote for that asshole. The most infantile, petulant, ridiculous, farcical, ignoramus to ever exist. The sheer stupidly of it all is what galls me the most. The stupidity.

BREAKING: We're suing ICE for unlawfully targeting and arresting people who show up to court for their immigration hearings.

Will everyone quit and roll over? The law firms, media companies, universities, government employees. Will you all cling to what you have and hope you can just ride it out, Republic be damned? Shame on all of you who don’t stand up, just remember we will never forget.

It has been the honor of my life to serve as Commissioner of BLS alongside the many dedicated civil servants tasked with measuring a vast and dynamic economy. It is vital and important work and I thank them for their service to this nation.

the US profoundly needs a children's rights movement. children are not property... they deserve opportunity and learning and autonomy and security.... and our country just does not acknowledge this

There are so many times this nightmare should’ve been over, but I’ll never get how inciting a violent coup on J6 didn’t lead to a prison term post haste. That fucker should’ve been yanked by the lapels out of the White House, handcuffed, and hauled away that day. Everyone knew he was responsible.

Jessica: Before this deal, we essentially were paying 1% on imports with the EU. 15% is more than 1%. I wish Gasparino was sitting here to explain to Jesse how tariffs work because it is a tax on the consumer.

85% of Gaza is on the brink of death due to starvation. Israel could let aid in at any moment. And some people (like these men tried to do with me on Friday) are still trying to justify this atrocity. There is no justification. This could stop at any moment. End the blockade now.

They can all take pride that Merrick Garland held the line for a 1970s internal dept. memo that said candidates shouldn’t be tried for crimes. So there’s that. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Treasury Department files reviewed by Senator Ron Wyden’s staff members show 4,725 wire transfers, adding up to nearly $1.1 billion, associated with just one of Mr. Epstein’s bank accounts. Follow. The. Money.

The Department of Justice is pretending it needed to talk to notorious liar Ghislaine Maxwell to know the truth about Jeffrey Epstein, when it is concealing thousands of documents about him that don’t lie. It’s a sick farce.

Thank you Scotland. Big Media in the US has betrayed us and normalized the psychopath in the White House. They are cowards. The days of Woodward and Bernstein are long gone. Only independent media is telling the truth.

It is vitally important that more people like Powell have the integrity and courage to “nope” Trump when he starts spouting bullshit. He is clearly used to yes-men eagerly wagging their tails, and simply looks like a fool whenever someone puts him outside his comfort zone.
