Yay, article page proofs ✨️ I really look forward to discuss this (& hope the historical case study can help us make sense of current concerns) It will be published in Trophy Photograps. Soldiers Picturing the Second World War Ed Elissa Mailänder & Tom Streuber Publ @spectorbooks.bsky.social 1/2
For those interested in 1970s & 80s feminist and lesbian thought and action, I recommend checking out the digitalized versions of "Heresies. A Feminist Puplication on Art and Politics". Thought-provoking & in many ways still helpful & worthwhile to discuss. 🔥 heresiesfilmproject.org/archive/#1149
Came across it when watching the documentary "The Heretics" (directed by Joan Braderman) last week at #hiqff. Great film! Thanks to the feminist and queer film and video archive bildwechsel in Hamburg who organized the viewing. bildwechsel.org/info/index.h...

This is a great piece of the inherent limitations of consent education to prevent sexual assault. It is especially true in the Australian context with campaigns such as teach us consent that harmfully framed rape as an issue of misunderstanding or miscommunication (thus removing boys/men’s agency)
Yet another brilliant piece by @katemanne.bsky.social. "Education is, in the end, an individualistic and shallow response to a deep and structural problem. And it mistakenly identifies false beliefs rather than bad desires as the problem."

"The group chat of 57 fraternity men included messages such as 'free pussy' & asked questions like 'shop still open?' This treatment of women is a culture created over years of 'tradition' & it is what fraternities are built to produce," comments a Cornell student english.elpais.com/opinion/2026...
If we are serious about dismantling patriarchy and rape culture, we would stop calling it Cornell 7. It's the Cornell 57. Passive bystanders are a pillar of misogyny. Men must actively intervene in shifting social norms & refuse to participate in rape *culture* Its the Cornell 57, not Cornell 7.

I spoke to @usatoday.com about data on sexual violence at Cornell. Victimization rates are increasing and reporting rates are falling. “Together… those two trendlines tell me that all students, including victims and perpetrators, believe that there is impunity for sexual assault at Cornell.”
