also i've talked to some ppl who didn't know this, so i will reiterate that we had MORE federal agents than the fall surge in chicago, which is a bit bigger as a metro region. they really were everywhere, they were extremely disruptive TO EVERYONE, it's bizarre to ignore that. schools were closed!

incredibly weird to read coverage of elections here that doesn't seem to view it was newsworthy or relevant that we're not even a year out from having over 3000 federal agents invade us to kidnap, brutalize, terrorize, and murder people. just seems like something you'd consider, idk

repetitiveuser.bsky.social reposted

just a guess obviously but i suspect we're going to see what ICE did here showing up in electoral results and it's extremely weird that election coverage not only doesn't take a position on it but also often doesn't mention it as a relevant factor at all.

its interesting to me, how people were able to understand that Péter Magyar was a candidate of the center-right (or more the anti-corruption right) and that was a huge win over Orban but I keep hearing that Gadi Eisenkot, who is much more of the center, is "the same" "barely better" etc than Bibi

One of the basic tests of 2028 will be a candidate's ability to 1. communicate how they intend to satisfy voters without being completely out of touch with the realities of politics & 2. Ensure coverage of that communication doesn't distort the message into uselessness

Here is @emilybregel.bsky.social’s story. CW: self-harm 38yo Andreea Marin is brain dead on life support, her brother says, after not getting the medication she needed for her mental illness in ICE custody. Yet her wrists and ankles are chained to the hospital bed. tucson.com/news/local/b...

excited to read this. as always, i am struck by how the unitary executive rests, in terms of political theory, on treating the presidency in a distinctly extra-constitutional way: as an instantiation of the general will. it's as if roberts et al got drunk on an undergraduate reading of rousseau.

The Plot to Enslave America. Harsh treatment of student borrowers both makes those currently in the labor pool more willing to submit to exploitation and future workers less likely to go to college (where they could compete with the aristocrat children of the elite). Big win for the oligarch class
