Energy shortfalls and grid failures are not inevitable - they are the result of policy choices. We must keep the lights on in PA, and that means more energy generated, more grid efficiency measures, and modern technology that helps us meet peak demand.

Thank you to my colleagues Rep. Nate Davidson, Rep. Nikki Rivera, Rep. Kyle Donahue, Rep. Jennifer O'Mara, and Rep. Mandy Steele for your leadership on these bills, and to PennEnvironment, Advanced Energy United, and Keystone Energy Efficiency Alliance for your advocacy.

School solar in action! I loved visiting Manheim School District recently to attend the ribbon-cutting on their brand new solar array! This installation of over 1200 panels brought jobs to the area, generates clean energy, and will help the district cover their rising costs - without raising taxes.

You got a knock on the door, and suddenly you've signed up for an energy supplier that seems like a great deal - until it isn't. This predatory practice must end. @repheatherboyd.com and I sent a letter to the PUC today supporting reforms in their current case. www.spotlightpa.org/news/2026/10...

As utility bills continue to rise month after month, customers deserve to know how those decisions were made. I'm proud that HB2584, a companion to Senator Michele Brooks' SB1254, passed the House this week with overwhelming bipartisan support. www.pahouse.com/Fiedler/InTh...

I’m excited to get to work with the new, Kids and Families Caucus. As a parent and a lawmaker, I look forward to helping address transportation challenges, supporting parents experiencing postpartum depression, and strengthening the resources families need to thrive in my district and across PA.

Yesterday, the House passed one of the biggest environmental and affordability wins in Pa history! Millions that were originally allocated for natural gas will be re-invested in renewables + a data center usage fee will create cash payments for regular ratepayers. www.pahouse.com/Fiedler/InTh...

The House Energy Committee and House Democrats have a comprehensive plan to address and reverse the energy crisis that the PUC warned about in September. We need more energy generation, a more efficient grid, and modern infrastructure to meet peak demand.

You've just gotten the baby to sleep while the older kids watch their favorite show on low volume, when suddenly - 🔊BOOM! - the super loud audio from an ad disrupts everything. That's not just a small annoyance - it's an unfair business practice that disrupts our lives!

Under the federal CALM Act, TV commercials must be the same volume as a show, but that doesn't apply to online streaming services. I think these online businesses need to play fair - and quietly. That's why I've introduced HB2790 with my colleague across the aisle Rep. Shaffer.

When working people pay the same taxes as billionaires, that's not "fairness" - it's elites exploiting a broken system. This week, @repcephas.com and I introduced a bill to repeal the most outdated and regressive tax policy in PA: the uniformity clause. local21news.com/news/local/p...

local21news.comProgressive Taxation for PA Bill introduced to build an economy that 'works for everyone'The Progressive Taxation for PA Bill was introduced on Monday to propose the repeal of the Uniformity Clause in the Pennsylvania Constitution.

It doesn’t make sense that a worker making $7.25/hour pays the same taxes as someone making seven figures. But this is reality in Pa., where we have the 4th most regressive tax structure in the US. This is in part because of the outdated uniformity clause, one our biggest roadblocks to tax reform.

People’s utility bills have become totally unaffordable. Yet Pennsylvania’s utility monopolies aren’t struggling: they earn among the highest profit margins for their shareholders of any industry. Pennsylvanians should pay for safe and reliable service, not shareholder profits.

If a data center requires Pennsylvania's energy generation, transmissions, distribution or other grid infrastructure, the costs should be borne by the companies creating that demand - not by the Pennsylvania households and businesses that are already paying too high a price.

While Trump caters to Big Tech, it's up to states to act on AI and data centers. I spoke with Joel D. Smith on Face the State this weekend to talk about what we're doing in the PA House Energy Committee and beyond to make sure families and working people are protected from Big Tech's overreach.

Congrats to Allegheny Valley School District on today's news of their Solar for Schools award! The project is estimated to save the district over $80,000 a year - those energy savings can be used for teacher salaries, classroom materials, facility upgrades, and more. cumberlink.com/news/communi...

I was proud to take part in the historic #PAHouse session at Congress Hall. Taking time to reflect on the complicated founding of American democracy, I'm filled with renewed optimism for the opportunity to serve my South Philly district to make this a government truly of, by and for the people.

The PUC issued a dire warning this morning about the outlook of PA's energy future. As Chair of the House Energy Committee, I propose a new vision: more renewables, a modernized grid, investment in battery storage, efficiency measures to manage demand, and oversight on Big Tech's data centers.

"Fourth graders built solar-powered bugs, and fifth graders built racer kits in the school's cafeteria while learning about renewable energy." - I love this! S4S is not just about cutting costs, it's an educational tool, and a sign of hope for whole generations of students.

Big Tech like to play by their own rules, hurting their customers and clients in the process. But with bold policy like my Digital Ads Tax bill and increased oversight over tech's unchecked power, we can balance the playing field in PA. penncapital-star.com/2026/08/31/r...

I will never support a union-busting company, especially not when its unionized workers have been fighting for a contract for YEARS! No Starbucks for me, at my events, or in my office until Starbucks workers get the contract they deserve. #BoycottStarbucks

Grants can now cover up to 75% of the total cost of a solar project, up from the previous maximum of 50%. Districts can also enter power-purchase agreements with solar developers to more easily arrange for panel installation and secure lower, fixed energy rates. From @emilyscolnick.bsky.social

I was happy to be joined by my colleague Rep. Shaffer and energy advocates today to discuss the importance of advanced transmission technologies (ATTs). My ATT bill HB2223 passed the House UNANIMOUSLY in May! We call on the Senate to take up this common sense legislation!

We all deserve a safe home, yet too many Americans can't afford crucial home repairs - a growing issue as we watch the destructive impacts of climate change. I was proud to vote for Whole-Home Repairs in '22, and excited see this bipartisan program now help countless Americans nationwide.

Senator Nikil Saval@pasenatorsaval.com

When we first passed Whole-Home Repairs, we hoped it would offer a blueprint for other states grappling with how to preserve aging housing stock and protect their residents. Today’s passage of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act shows the realization of this hope.
