Some of President Donald Trump's most loyal supporters are no longer rushing to his defense, according to a veteran Democratic pollster who said he watched it happen in real time.

James Kirchick on Bill Maher said Trump bases most of his foreign policy on personal relationships. I don’t think that’s quite true. I think he bases it on what he imagines are personal relationships. He thinks he’s charming. He goes with his gut because he mistakenly believes he has good instincts.

He’s also too lazy to go with intelligence on foreign leaders. He sucks up to them because he foolishly imagines flattering them & pulling out the stops will sway them. Because that works on him. What a wonderful relationship these two will hopefully always have. It’s funny; mother cats lick their kittens’ heads. So the kittens love that feeling, but I wonder what it’s like with such a huge tongue that can do the whole face with one lick.

🧵 Ron DeSantis steals children’s Medicare money and launders it: Once again, Republicans are lying, cheating, stealing and committing fraud. DeSantis loves to try to paint Dems with the word “fraud“ anytime he can. But he stole $10 million of settlement money intended for poor sick children.

It was stolen to further the political interests of the governor, and the First Lady’s charity was used to launder that money. That is corrupt. Everybody understands that. Medicaid money, healthcare money intended for families and children was stolen to benefit the governor.

And the architects of the fraudulent scheme were Florida’s current US senator, current Attorney General and current governor. It’s absolute corruption. The Republicans are getting away with it because they have a super majority and they can. The people being investigated hold all the power.

The governor’s chief of staff was clearly at the intersection of how all this came together. So afterwards when people started investigating it, DeSantis appointed his chief of staff to be state Attorney General so he would have the law enforcement purview over any investigations like this.

So the people who were involved were promoted to places of further power obstructing what would essentially be a grand jury investigation that could not get to the bottom of the truth because nobody would cooperate. The bottom line is that Medicaid money intended for needy families was stolen.

Jolly wants to appoint a special or independent investigator to reopen this and has invited his Republican challenger Byron Donalds to join him. He also reached out to VP Vance, who is supposedly intent on ferreting out fraud, but has not heard back from him.

@DavidJolly Everyone involved got a promotion & is now in a higher position. The people being investigated hold all the power. Ashley Moody as AG signed off on the corrupt deal claiming she did not know how the money was going to be spent. That’s malfeasance in the way she administered her office.

This money ended up in state Republican Party’s coffers. Per David Jolly (D-FL, gov. candidate): “Our governor, our senator and our attorney general were involved in an orchestrated scheme to launder money from the state Medicaid program to the First Lady’s nonprofit.

It’s money laundering”. And as a result of all of them colluding he promoted the people who were the architects of the fraud. The AG at the time, Ashley Moody was appointed Senator to replace Rubio, the governor’s chief of staff was appointed State AG. The deputy AG was promoted to a judgeship.

He funneled it to Republican causes. A Florida grand jury found DeSantis’ administration “misappropriated“ $10 million in taxpayer money to Hope Florida. That’s the nonprofit set up to fund the social service initiatives of Gov DeSantis’ wife Casey DeSantis. It transferred money to other nonprofits.
