Levelord, you're not supposed to be here. bsky.app/profile/joes...

Richard B. Gray - LEVELORD 11/15/1957 - 10/12/2026 Just heard the news that an old friend of mine has passed on. Richard Gray - aka Levelord has departed the planet. I know he's dealt with cancer on and off for awhile now, a word that I cannot stand. Word comes from his wife Olga.

A couple of fun facts here. Sonic 2 came out on the Sega Master System slightly before it come out on the Genesis/MegaDrive. The Game Gear out almost immediately after, still beating the 16-bit version by a week. 1/2

This post is unavailable.

The 8-bit games were also not made by Sega themselves. Sonic 1 was outsourced to Ancient Software with the brief to make it as close as possible to the Genesis version. Sega decided this didn't meet the potential of the machine, and subsequent Sonic 8-bit games were made by Aspect Software. 2/2

To borrow a line from Life, The Universe and Everything by Douglas Adams .... A NEW PLEASURE! (we'll get this on our BBC Micro soon)

Ultimate Play The Game's 'Cookie' for the BBC Micro. Visually ported by Paul Proctor but not released. However, a copy of the game was leaked at some point and the game became public! Here's Cookie assembling and running from Paul's original development disk - 6502 M/C. Music/SFX by Martin Galway.

We may have the only analogue CRT television still receiving four channels 😅 Each channel has Teletext of course... BBC 1 ➡️ Ceefax East Midlands BBC 2 ➡️ Ceefax World Service Central ➡️ Spark C4 ➡️ Chunkytext

Very nice 😊 We don't have much need to have SPARC stuff on display, but there is a lot of love. In storage we have a SPARCServer 1000E 4-motherboard beast. We'd love to get it doing something useful one day.

SPARCstation LX all up and running off of BlueSCSI. Used a CD image and reinstalled Solaris 2.3. Still a lot to learn about Solaris.

Just saying, we still don't have an Apple Lisa 😭 We'd take a barn find that refuses to boot any day!

CelGen Studios@celgen.org

Poor Adrian. 😂 I warned you, man! The Lisa has been the one computer I've worked on by a wide margin that would throw me the STUPIDEST of roadblocks in an attempt to _just not stay running._

We can't wait to see this finished. Our visitors would love to play this.

Acorn Electron / BBC Micro - Chuckulus - WIP Maybe I'll try a thread instead of quote posting stuff !..... Fixed the flashing egg and bouncing off ladders bugs - thankfully quite simple stuff.... Time for some proper level design, as some are just too damn hard/impossible (even without the DUCK !) 🙄

The core is a PIC18F45K22 microcontroller running at 256 MHz. This is running a piece of software called VFDEMU written by MikeDX (and available for platforms that support SDL). Mike developed VFDEMU by re-using the µCOM4 CPU core developed by MAME. 2/3

Absolutely amazing game. Some at the time might have said it couldn't be done. Geoff Crammond said "hold my beer" (or something similar). Now if someone could write a version for our virtuality machines....

Mark Moxon@markmoxon.bsky.social

I am delighted to announce the release of my latest project: Fully documented source code for The Sentinel, Geoff Crammond’s 1986 masterpiece. Here’s the repository; deep dives coming soon. See thread for details. 1/9 github.com/markmoxon/th... #retrocomputing #retrogaming #bbcmicro #c64 #8bit

We literally configured this on our DOS BOX this morning. Can confirm - it sounds amazing.

I recently discovered that the original soundtrack for Doom was composed using an SC-55 so this is the canonical E1M1

Retro Computer Museum@retrocomputermuseum.co.uk

We have finally got the MT-32 and SC-55 setup for the ultimate in DOS gaming.... The setup we all dreamed of having back in the day.

3D Realms was working on this way back in the late 90s. They gave up when they realised the technology of the day could only cope with a voxel count that looked a bit naff.

"what games will you play when everything uses AI?" So there's this cool thing called playing older games, did you know we have hundreds of thousands of them? Enough to keep someone busy for multiple lifetimes? I'm not gonna run out anytime soon Still hoping the AI bubble bursts though of course
