Have you considered that most illegal immigrants work under the table

Lesley Carhart@hacks4pancakes.com

This isn’t targeted at anyone in specific - I have had the conversation like 6 times this week, Americans - You need a work visa to work in another country, -even remote- unless they allow digital nomad You can’t just go to most countries on a tourist visa and start looking for a visa sponsor & job

Maybe it was not so smart to build a statistical engine that imitates the written word (including fiction) and treat it like an oracle that produces fact

"SCPs that got hoovered up and regurgitated by chatbots end up giving tech executives schizophrenia" is perhaps fittingly a very SCP thing to happen

It’s really comforting that as food skyrockets in price, your neighbors are disappeared by masked goons, and people die en masse of preventable illness, Republicans and Democrats can come together and say: fuck this one trans teenager in particular for trying to run track with her friends

For a guy whose entire thing is the effect of media narratives on politics, it's insane how he's missing the obvious narrative formation that AOC is doing

Will Stancil@whstancil.bsky.social

man I'm sorry, I love AOC, but the "oligarchy" thing, where they attempt to fit Trump into the framing of the Bernie 2016 campaign, is just not accurate

Now I'll need a bluecheck blocker for here too

Bluesky@bsky.app

We’re introducing a new layer of verification on Bluesky — a user-friendly, easily recognizable blue check. In addition to account verification issued by Bluesky, we're also introducing Trusted Verifiers. Select independent organizations can verify accounts directly.

Cop telling a journalist "don't tell anyone" information and him immediately posting it is so fucking funny

Philip Gourevitch@pgourevitch.bsky.social

I asked the one high ranking policeman I saw on 5th Ave why there were so few police. He said “We did not expect anything like this. Don’t tell anyone but I’ve only got 44 officers out here — and it’s a great crowd, great event, no incidents.”

It's telling that he interprets leftist criticism of these slogans as motivated by "cringe" when there is a real ideological break that would preclude any communist from supporting NATO.

William B. Fuckley@opinionhaver.bsky.social

‘Hands off NATO? heh, you fool. you dunce.’ yeah I wish I was in my early 20s again too, but it is in fact no longer 2016.

He misidentifies class politics as a "philosophy" that alienates allies rather than a central pillar in the effort against fascism

Will Stancil@whstancil.bsky.social

It simultaneously downplays the threat of Trump, undermines the actual need for a popular front, and alienates people who we need to agree on the necessity of beating Trump. “They’ll be forced to help MY philosophy rise from the ashes!” makes me feel like you’re not so worried about the ashes part

42/68: Job Beset with horrendous disasters because god wanted to prove a point i guess. On bluesky this guy becomes the main character like twice a month but the shitstorm and ensuing dogpile is always over a perfectly innocent tweet that was just poorly phrased. Rating: 9/10

“People voted for Trump based on their recall of the 2017-2020 economy—stimmy and superdole included—and simply did not encounter and/or believe reporting about his plans to be a dictator” fits the available facts much better than “a plurality of Americans voted for Trump to be a dictator.”

direct action is usually the same $20 being passed around and hoping it comes back to you when it's your turn to need it if you're able to add an extra $20 anywhere in the chain, we promise you that you'll be bringing more good to this world then sending it anywhere near the DNC do some good.

- mutual aid - bail funds - street medics - abortion funds - transition funds - literally any form of direct action - buy some art - tip a sex worker - grab an extra meal when you go through the drive thru for the guy outside - literally hand money to random strangers unprompted
