Checking out a new social media site. Trying to get away from toxicity. Why can I not upload a picture for my profile? Oh, because I love that white in blue so much I'm leaving it.🤦

Has this guy ever been on the right side of an issue? He got his start being completely wrong about the Iraq war?
Matthew Yglesias continues to say that talking about ICE and excessive force in immigration enforcement helps Republicans. He is obviously wrong about this and refuses to acknowledge the data. Way past time for everyone to update their priors on this.

If every time you "reach across" the "partisan divide", you pull back a bloody stump where your hand used to be, the shortcomings and naivete of this strategy become evident.
The best cure for ideological bias is find someone on the other side and go to lunch with them. Sometimes we disagree about facts. Sometimes we disagree about values. Figuring out which is which is fun part. https://newsletter.platypuseconomics.com/p/my-libertarian-friends-were-right

Ministry of Truthers
For years we've heard that Biden created a "Ministry of Truth," which didn't actually happen. But, I still hear people talking about it. But then Trump directed his FCC boss to be a literal Minister of Truth and the story disappeared within a day or two. What are we even doing here?

Damn, that man can't handle the heat so bad he couldn't even make it to the kitchen to get the fck out of it.
Q: Mr Sununu, would you have voted for a war powers resolution in the Senate? JOHN SUNUNU:🚶🚶🚶 Q: Would you admit that Trump’s war was a bad decision, or are you just going to do everything that Trump tells you to do? JOHN SUNUNU:🚶🚶🚶

If Dems take the House and Senate his numbers will improve. Especially with the way the media covers Trump breaking the law and violating the constitution.
Trump's net approval has now sunk to -27, with absolutely no sign of the trend reversing. What will it look like in two years as we approach the next presidential election? Data as ever via @gelliottmorris.com @fiftyplusone.news
You work with databases. You have to query the database. Wouldn't it be easier to write a program that can use laymen's terms to query a humongous ever expanding database? Yes. Would it be cool if it was also a worm that rearranges things on your computer? Yes. It's a virus on a loop.
I don't understand what is confusing about this. Until recently, you could look at computers and say "Look, they're nothing like us, they're calculators, we can complete many intellectual tasks they never could." Easy, practical distinction in capabilities. Now it's getting much harder to say that.
I was watching a doc on Woodstock '99 the other day and it clicked that the mentality of that crowd is the mentality of a lot of people in this country right now. No reflection of "what did we just do" more "everyone else made us do it because they wouldn't cater to our every whim of the moment"
Again, it’s not just that this Tesla asshole killed a mother and her child with his recklessness. It’s that as his victims were dying, he did nothing to help them and instead sat scrolling through his phone.

I got on a kick about this a few days ago. A lot of people who worked for companies or institutions that helped build Stuxnet are in the industry now. Plus, the more I think about how Cowork and the like works, the more I'm reminded of viruses and software patches through torrents and the like.
You know what's missing from the AI fears discussion? Stuxnet and NotPetya If you're familiar with those cyberweapons, then software that autonomously spreads, messes up computer systems, and ends up acting in ways beyond its creators' intentions or control isn't a brand new shock.
It's a program. They're not sure how it works They did something and it worked and they've built off of it and it's still kind of working They don't know why or how It's a layman's query tool It's not thinking, those aren't thoughts, it's visuals to ease the minds of visually oriented creatures
The new line all the anti-AI obsessives are adopting is that it's dangerous to "anthropomorphize" AI. What they mean by that is that if you use a colloquial term that accurately describes what they're doing - thinking, hacking, making autonomous decisions - they'll tell you to stop.
I thought it happened to my kid but they were just late getting out of school. How do people hate so much they'll believe any lie that confirms and justifies their hate?
Yes, yes, the state of California is definitely taking children away from their parents if they don't agree with "the pronouns the schools chooses for your kids," yes, that is an entire string of events that definitely happened. It's cool how a US Senator can just spread insane lies on TV.
