Elon Musk has spent at least $366 million since July to boost Republicans ahead of the 2026 midterms. That’s just 0.0385% of his total net worth. Oligarchs can rig the system at the expense of everyone else, and only spend pennies doing so. We must get Big Money out of politics.

Watching Spidey and the Avengers Halloween Team up for my first foray into scary seasonal viewing. Two minutes in and I have questions. Is Cap a grownup and the rest are kids? Is this part of a series? Have I missed something?

Returning from a visit to my parents this weekend. Now that I will be back home I can start my fall seasonal watching. I have obsession, the backrooms and Ghostbusters Frozen Empire on tap to watch this month. What else should I add?

How would you POLITELY catcall any one of the X-Men, and you have to start your catcall with either, “damn, girl!” or, “damn, boy!”

But even aside from all that, you don’t have to be a genius to see that trans folk are being slandered and scapegoated by fucking piece of shit politicians and billionaires and I am not going to be quiet about that. No one should be. I am sleepy and probably not saying this well.

I'm just about done with my foray into westerns now, courtesy of Unforgiven and the man with no name trilogy. I'm starting my screwball comedy series with Bringing Up Baby. What other screwball comedies should I make sure to watch? #nowwatching #movies #film

A House primary in Florida pitted a congressman who cheered on Palestinian starvation against a manosphere influencer who posted approvingly about Hitler. It might just be the future of the GOP www.vox.com/politics/499...

For a lot of people the purpose of politics is to inflict cruelty. I think those people are horrified by Mamdani because there’s no obvious cruelty, so they assume it must be secret and they must be the targets. They can’t imagine a world where someone doesn’t dream about hurting others.

Every accusation is a confession. As a former theater operator, I can tell you from experience that the current right-wing conspiracy theory about The Odyssey’s ticket sales has currency because this is, in fact, how small ideologue studios juice their own numbers to make their sales seem strong.

I love how insane everyone is becoming.

Seeing the discourse around the death of Lindsay Graham, I'd like to propose a change. Let's modify "Don't speak ill of the dead" to "Don't speak falsely of the dead." If people didn't want me to speak ill of them when they were dead, they shouldn't be horrible people while they were alive.

Every single lawmaker that’s calling for their constituents to “be responsible with electricity usage” during the extreme heat had better be supporting heavy restrictions on data centers.

Sounds like the issue is an affordable college education and not a handful of trans athletes but we seem to only debate and legislate the latter.

Gluesenkamp Perez: "At town halls, what I saw was the people who were the most upset had spent the last 12 years driving their girls to sports practice & they view their best shot of their student going to college as an athletic scholarship. So when we rush to moralize we miss some of the nuance."

Schumer is also deeply unpopular with New York voters, with a net favorability of -15. In comparison, Sen. Bernie Sanders has a net favorability of +15, New York City Zohran Mamdani has a net favorability of +7, and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has a net favorability of +3.

Trans people are harming no one. They aren't starting wars, they aren't stealing tax dollars for vanity projects, they aren't destroying democracy, they aren't undoing health and safety standards for corporate cronies. The people making these fucking laws are the ones doing all that.

My fellow cis folks, The FCC is asking Americans to submit comments about whether the TV Oversight Management Board (TVOMB) should create new TV ratings to alert viewers to trans/gender content. Time to be an ally and tell the FCC absolutely the fuck not. It takes five minutes to do.

If you’re gonna be wishing catastrophic weather on Washington DC during those rallies, at least talk to some local witches instead of sending your random unfocused-ass energy. We know the cross streets. We can target that shit. Y’all probably over there looking at a map that was generated by a.i. 🧙🏾

I had a great weekend at the local comic con and made a HUGE dent in myAvengers Vol 1 goal. Getting the full run will be too expensive for me, so my goal is to collect 100-402. After finding a fantastic deal at one booth, I'm now 39 issues away from that goal. #Marvel #comics #avengere

Back in 2002 or so, I started a project to watch the AFI Top 100 movies. I made the mistake of starting with number one and barely made it halfway through the list. I have restarted that project starting with number 100 and I have added a spin to it.

I'm not just watching the film, but I'm also watching 2-4 additional films for each one, picking up on a different theme. This happened because by coincidence I watched Yankee Doodle Dandy and Saturday Night back to back.

They are both essentially showbiz biopics. I added Ed Wood, Funny Girl and All That Jazz to round out the series. Next up is Guess Who's Coming to Dinner. I've decided I'm going to watch four other Sidney Poitier films adter that to be more familiar with his body of work.

Enjoyed SPIDER-NOIR eps 1+2 and am looking forward to watching more, but it's a damn shame the creators of the Spider-Man Noir comic didn't even get a Special Thanks in the credits. David Hine, Fabrice Sapolsky, Carmine Di Giandomenico and designer Marko Djurdjević deserve that at the very least.

Went on a 10 store bookstore crawl (drive) with a friend for a belated independent bookstore day celebration. It was so much fun. Looking into making this an annual tradition.

So the Trump administration’s two goals in peace talks with Iran are: 1. A commitment by Iran not to develop a nuke (This was part of the Obama deal that Trump canceled) 2. Opening the Strait of Hormuz. (Was open before war.)

Brian C. reposted

REMINDER: Saudi Arabia does not want the war in Iran to end before there is regime change. The Saudis are paying a top U.S. negotiator, Jared Kushner, tens of millions annually. The negotiations just ended without a deal, exactly what the Saudis wanted.

You’ll notice this graph ends in 2024 and I think I know why. In 2025, the government killed the youth smoking survey we’ve done annually since 1999. I assume they killed the adult surveys too.

“The practice protected their egos at the expense of their minds” is such a beautifully succinct turn of phrase. What a simple way of articulating this.

Peter Norton@norton.bsky.social

In elementary school I observed that children who were ashamed of their ignorance called things they did not understand “stupid” and “dumb.” The practice protected their egos at the expense of their minds. Both words remain favorites of the insecure Secretary of Defense.
