Solar has become “the obvious choice” for consumers, said Nsitem. “As the US-Iran war pushed up global fuel prices, the cost of operating these generators has risen, making solar systems much more attractive overnight.” Gift link

NEW: Another demand downgrade in the latest IEA oil market report Previously, IEA said a rebound in 2027 would outweigh the Homuz-related drop in 2026 Now, it sees oil failing to make up lost ground next year – demand will remain below 2025 levels

Billions of dollars’ worth of contracts predicting oil would fall and the S&P 500 would rise were placed about 15 minutes before Trump announced a U-turn on Iran in a post on Truth Social. CFTC staff began to investigate...then were told to lay off. www.bloomberg.com/news/feature...

bloomberg.comCFTC Staff Were Told to Retract Analysis of Suspicious Oil TradesChairman’s adviser intervened to take over examination of lucrative bets that were made around Trump reversal on Iran power plant attack.

The reduction in tax credits, loans, and funding for deployment of clean energy technology and investment in clean energy manufacturing also takes a toll on state economies. Nearly every state sees a loss of jobs and lower GDP as a result of these policy changes.

In short: the federal energy policy changes made since January 2025 will make increase America's energy spending and health care costs while cutting economic opportunities through lower employment and GDP. These changes add fuel to the affordability crisis already facing many Americans.

Meanwhile, the much larger dependence on fossil fuel means that emissions of health damaging pollutants is set to rise, making Americans sicker. We estimate a cumulative increase of 37,000 premature deaths over the next 15 years.

It also means more Americans visiting the doctor, going to the hospital, purchasing medication, and getting support when their children are home sick or they can't work, raising our healthcare costs. Between 2025 and 2040 across all states we evaluated, this adds $72 billion to people's expenses.

These higher costs are driven by three factors. 1) Eliminating tax credits makes new electricity more expensive and less new power gets built, driving up electricity rates; 2) Greater reliance on natural gas power drives up natural gas prices for everyone; and....

3) Much greater dependence on gasoline vehicles, which are well established as more expensive to drive than battery electric vehicles, makes commuting much more expensive while also making gasoline itself more expensive. Add it all up and you get hundreds of dollars more each year.

We evaluated two scenarios. The 1st holds federal policies constant as of January 2025. The 2nd reflects current policies, including federal policies since 2025: 1) OBBBA, 2) EPA 111 recission, 3) EPA tailpipe CO2 recission for cars and trucks, 4) California waiver repeal, and 5) Permitting delays

We found that in every state we evaluated, energy costs are set to grow by hundreds of dollars per year over the next 15 years. By 2035, a handful of states will see more than $800 per year in higher energy costs, growing to more than $1,000 per year by 2040.

While emissions are still set to decline, we’re adding about 1 Gt per year by 2040 relative to where we were headed.

Since becoming president again, Trump has promised: -$5000 stimulus checks via "DOGE dividend" -$2000 stimulus checks via "tariff dividend" -$1000+ checks via "savings" from expiring ACA subsidies -$5000 "dividend" if Rs win midterms No checks have been issued www.thebulwark.com/p/trump-magi...

Trump: "If the Republicans win the House of Representatives and the United States Senate...I will issue a dividend to every adult citizen in the United States of America for $5,000."

Will all the Los Angelinos I know who blamed the wildfires on Karen Bass and Gavin Newsom do the same for hurricane Marie? Maybe time to acknowledge climate change is a factor here.

NEW from us: China's traffic-related air pollution levels dropped sharply after the Hormuz crisis, as fuel consumption fell and EV use surged. This is more evidence that the fall in China's oil import isn't just inventory drawdown but real consumption cuts. 🧵
