I've been thinking about this a lot, and I think Star Girl by McFly might be one of the best songs of the last forty years. It has basically everything you need, including a pun on the name of the planet "Uranus". Fun for all the family.

A kitten looks for empirical evidence.

I am enjoying my PGCert in health professions education. I remain convinced I have enrolled in a humanity by mistake. I have particularly enjoyed the line I have just read... "Education is a social science, and in social science objective truth is elusive".

The tolerant obstetrician is a truly spectacular cake maker. This lemon drizzle cake, with lemon butter icing, lemon curd and jelly lemons, was absolutely ridiculous. It is a shame she is so talented at her day job, or she should be doing this full time instead. R6ii, nifty fifty. #photography

Kudos to Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust on becoming the latest organisation to officially adopt the #SASsix in their approach to their workforce. Supporting your doctors to achieve their potential benefits the services they work in, and the patients they look after. Bravo!

Morning, almost. Been up since before six trying to do all the house things before work. Walking the dogs as the sun starts to come over the horizon is the only bit worth remembering. Phone #photography, because I haven't got enough hands for three leads and a camera.

Kittens are cute regardless, but more cute when their faces are in focus. Really glad I managed to sort the focus on this camera yesterday! Pentax K10D, 35mm F/2.4 lens wide open. #photography

The Pentax is definitely now focussing! A scruffy dog, for your Saturday evening. #photography

Old cameras are a source of much joy and much frustration. Today, I spent an hour trying to fix the focus on my Pentax K10D. This camera is gorgeous, but it has been back focussing. I have had to trick it into allowing me into a servicing "debug" menu, to adjust the focus. #photography

Took my K10D out for a spin in Southwell's Minster Gardens. Seems to be focussing on things properly now. Lovely stuff. #photography

I am working on my PGCert homework. I am trying to get concepts down to a level where I have a chance of remembering them. I have decided that Bandura's Social Learning Theory is "Monkey See, Monkey Do".

Recognition and representation are vital for SAS doctors, and there's still much more to do. That's why we're taking part in #SASWeek26, to celebrate and support SAS doctors.

It’s SAS Week! 🩺 This week we’re celebrating SAS doctors — recognising their expertise, experience and the vital contribution they make to patient care and the NHS every day. #SASWeek #SASDoctors #NHS #SASWeek26

"This is a mixed result, that might not leave you feeling fully energised for the day ahead." Yeah, Fitbit, I am well aware dude. Telling me every morning that I'm not getting enough decent quality sleep doesn't actually improve my mood.

Train station coffee. Another very busy week ahead, and it is starting to feel cold in the mornings. I'm going to need to cheer up, or it is going to be a very long winter.

Survived. Another busy week is almost with us folks. Charge your coffees and raise them in unison. We will do it all again.

To anyone else who starts their working week wondering how they are going to get through it all, I raise my coffee in your direction. We are not alone. We are not even rare. Here is to surviving life together.

Gorgeous day for an open day at the University of Lincoln's Brayford Pool campus. If you are visiting us today, make sure you come and say hello! We are all based out of the Ross Lucas Medical Sciences building, and we would love to chat to you!

We are always absolutely delighted when another trust decides to adopt the #SASsix in their approach to their workforce. Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust joins multiple other Trusts in wanting to support their doctors to be all they can be. We salute you!

Looking a little autumnal out there, but there is still beauty even as the days grow shorter and colder. These were all taken with a Canon 10D from 2003 and a 28mm lens from the 90s. Cropped but otherwise unaltered. You don't need new gear to see the beauty of the world. #photography

I was joking that Ed Sheeran was this generation's Phil Collins at least a decade ago. Undeniably very talented, but so overexposed that it was inevitable people would cheer his downfall, and he really has earned this.

Photographers of BlueSky, what are the things you always do on a new camera? Mine are... Turn off the beeps Turn off the AF illuminator light I like being a little more subtle, and catching the moment. Beeps and flashing lights do not make for unobtrusive #photography .

Disappointing result, even if Spurs were clearly the better team today. As my brother-in-law wrote in his article for the Mail after the game: "Alas, they would struggle to hit a barn door from five yards." Gonna have to score a goal at some point, gents, or it isn't going to end well. #COYS

My kids didn't want what I had planned to cook, so I made something completely different. Chicken pesto pasta thing, with some cherry tomatoes, a little garlic and a splash of white wine, and then topped with some parmesan. 20 minutes, start to finish. I really should cook like this more often.

Just been reading about the Mayor of London, convicted in absentia for not taxing a car he doesn't own, with the DVLA sending the demands and threatening letters to the wrong address, which is a restaurant owned by Gordon Ramsay. Eh? Is it April 1st?

My son, daft sod that he is, was victim of fraud. If your kids have mobile phones in the UK, make sure that third-party purchases are switched off, or their mobile number can be used to make purchases, billed to their mobile phone bill. News to me, and the bill was not a pleasant surprise.

The Eiffel Tower is quite striking from Trocadéro. I also quite like that this was taken with probably my oldest lens, a Saitex 28mm, which was a gift from a friend I made on the bird app, Dr Ollie Burton. I always take this lens on holiday. I had it mounted on my A7 ii this week. #photography
