I suspect much of the NYT attitude comes from hiring lots of Ivy League graduates. For these people, institutions take priority over people. Conventions take priority over ethics. Status and merit become intertwined.

I would argue that the NYT’s argument that they choose watered-down phrases like “challenging norms” and “pushing boundaries“ because they deem them “more precise” than “corrupt” and “lie” is something very different than a good faith attempt to bd nonpartisan.

A major problem with political journalism is the perceived obligation to treat Republicans and Democrats equally, to be "nonpartisan." The NY Times editor in this video thinks this way. But as I explain, Dems vs. GOP is a simplistic focus. It should be decency vs. indecency, democracy vs. fascism.

The HYPOCRISY is real.
