No one should have to choose between the life they’ve built here in Australia and the parents they left behind. The Greens are fighting for a system that lets families have both. Because of a go-slow on processing by Govt a parent visa today means waiting 18 to up to 42 years.

Three people is not a protest, it’s one upset family member and two friends offering moral support. Vote Louise Elliott dead last in the Hobart City Council elections. 🖤💛❤️

When public servants give evidence in a public hearing, about jobs that the public pays them to do, their answers should be direct, unambiguous, and detailed. That is the contract between the public and government. Any suggestion otherwise goes against that agreement.

The Govt's new aged care algorithm has been assessed as neither fair nor consistent. The Govt must listen to experts and ensure they don't pursue another robodebt-style automation designed to cut costs at the expense of desperately-needed support #auspol

This is not about immigration, it’s about racist ideology. There’s an epidemic of stupidity at the heart of government and it will cost America dearly in the future. Justin Wolfers 👏👏👏👏👏👏

Albo the Unready wouldn’t take the first step in addressing hate speech by implementing a media Royal Commission, despite the presence of a huge APH petition at the start of his government’s 1st term Now he’s still trying to conflate criticism of Israel with antisemitism What a wasted opportunity

I'd like you to meet a late friend of mine, Mambi, a fierce warrior and genuine cannibal from the Sepik River region of Papua New Guinea. In the 1980s I wrote and recorded his biography and we became close friends. He became my informally adoptive godfather. #Papuanewguinea #png #photojournalism

As a parting gift, Mambi presented me with this fighting “axe” tipped with a cassowary claw. Find it much too utilitarian for my taste. It was a gift I couldn’t refuse…and have never had the heart to throw away.

Shy of bringing up the subject of his cannibalism. When I eventually screwed up the courage, knowing our time together was running out, Mambi showed no reticence, allowing that his favourite cut was the thigh (slapping his own with relish) and that human flesh tasted, not like pork, but cassowary.

Please don't @me with dusty old colonial theories about "long pig" and tasting like pork. There you have it from the cannibal's mouth. Not like pig, not like crocodile, emphatically cassowary. I've eaten the first two, but have yet to add cassowary to my diet.
