I am nearing the end of my #StarTrekEnterprise rewatch. The Andorian/Aenar trilogy freaking rocks. The Archer/Shran dynamics are so good and the Romulan marauder drone is an awesome little addition to canon that totally makes sense with their level of deceptiveness.

I fell asleep with #StarTrek #DeepSpaceNine on last night and “Civil Defense” came on right before I woke up this morning. As a result, my alarm synced up with “ATTENTION BAJORAN WORKERS!” and that’s just the intensity I think everyone needs when they wake up every morning.

RJ Mitte passing away is so sad. He came to speak at UMD when I was a student there shortly after Breaking Bad had wrapped. He was a smart, charming, and an honest guy. A great advocate and someone who really cared.

Joining #StarTrek #StarfleetAcademy as Season 2 guest stars are actors Bill Nighy (as Captain Ake's estranged father) and Rosemarie DeWitt (as Tarima's mother and the first lady of Betazed).

I acquired this prop from the 403 Auction and it was labeled generically as “sci-fi prop.” It was prominently seen most recently in #StarTrek #StrangeNewWorlds, “Those Old Scientists”, as a “matter synthesizer” when Boimler and Spock are working in the lab to synthesize horonium.

Turns out, Tilly uses this prop as a “laser core sampler” to capture a piece of the asteroid so they can harvest the metreon-charged dark matter for the spore drive interface replacement in the excellent #StarTrekDiscovery episode, “New Eden”.

My love of #StarTrekDiscovery is immense and this is officially the coolest thing I think I will ever own. I will cherish it forever. The fact that it was repurposed for an incredibly iconic episode of #StrangeNewWorlds takes the cake. 🖖🏻

I met up with the owner of the “radioactive” repurposed white yeti tumbler that was used in combination with the matter synthesizer for a photo op. With the “scifi prop” came the (surprisingly heavy) reaction vessel that Spock and Boimler are seen pouring the reaction mixture into.

After getting this prop in hand, I noticed that there was internal wiring for a battery pack and a trigger on the handle. After hooking it up, I was super surprised to find that not only does it still light up, but the silver knob turns to allow for dimming of the red LEDs.

Ten years ago today, I woke up early and headed to brunch for my last first date. The date continued beyond brunch, included a museum trip, and ended with a sushi dinner. It was the best day. Ten years later, we have two dogs, twins, a house, and many wonderful memories. Life is great.

Even though my wife likes to claim I wasn’t forthcoming about my love of Star Trek on our first date, the proof is still there courtesy of this photo. 😂 Anyways, I feel like the luckiest guy. Very much looking forward to what the next ten years brings.

I’ve been reading “Into the Blue” by Emma Brodie and I’m about 2/3 of the way through. Still early, but it may be one of my favorite reads this year. On paper, it’s a cozy love story with compelling characters, but it’s rooted in a Trek-adjacent fictional fandom and nails con life on the head.

While being charming and filled with comedic moments, it also strikes a balance of being totally devastating at times. The rich history the characters have makes this a page turner and I’m glad I picked it up.

Now that I’ve finished the back half of the book, there’s a whole lot more of the messy, complicated, and devastating moments. It starts out cozy, but definitely veers more into really rough and challenging territory. Still a great read and relatable. Very well done.

Staying up late for astronomy. M31 the Andromeda Galaxy. I've been waiting all summer for it to be in season. Captured with Seestar S30 Pro.

I knew as soon as the Joe Morton guest casting was revealed prior to the start of this season of #StarTrek #StrangeNewWorlds that the episode he appeared in would be something really special, rife with intense moments, and full of great character beats. “Orders of Magnitude” absolutely delivered.

This one-on-one interview between just Paul Wesley and William Shatner is excellent stuff. Really informative deep dive into how Wesley stepped into the role of Captain Kirk after previously being "defined" by his Vampire Diaries role. Two fascinating guys! www.interviewmagazine.com/culture/paul...

I ended up staying home today from work and now I’m rewatching “The Doomsday Machine”. Of all the #StarTrek guest stars over the past 60 years, William Windom as Matt Decker is still an absolutely S-tier performance.

Happy #StarTrek Day! 🖖🏻 my fandom began in 1998 watching reruns of The Original Series on the Sci-Fi Channel every afternoon after school. Star Trek has been there for me for a long time and I’ve met some of the absolute best people because of it. Cheers to many more years!

"My calling was medicine. Healing people. It is the great mystery of my life that some of my strongest skills lie in opposition to that calling." 📝 Joseph M'Benga in "A Case of Chiaroscuro" #StrangeNewWorlds

I don’t know who needs to hear this but Spock’s DNA linking with the protomatter on the Genesis planet is functionally the same thing as Su’Kal’s DNA linking with the dilithium nursery as a result of radiation. #StarTrek is just weird, y’all. Accept it.

One of my favorite Star Trek quotes. “You're a Starfleet captain. You believe in service, sacrifice, compassion, and love. No. I’m not going to abandon the things that made me who I am because of a future… that contains an ending I… I hadn’t foreseen for myself.” - Captain Pike

Waking up to a power outage that won’t be restored for several hours is especially dumb because I now need to buy coffee AND take the family out to breakfast. Worst time of day for a power outage.

Prediction: In 15-20 years, Star Trek: Discovery will be the DS9 of the Kurtzman Era—rediscovered and re-appreciated as excellent Trek despite its mixed initial reception. #StarTrek

Petition to rename #StarTrek #StrangeNewWorlds “Off-Hour” to “Oof-Hour” because Oof that punched me in the gut in the best way. Absolutely incredible Star Trek. Definitely in my top ten of the series so far, maybe even top five.

I am exhausted by the weekly question, “Will this ‘big swing’ work for me this week?” The writers of SNW proved they could write very good #StarTrek. I’m generally fine with the puppets. Just exhausted by the complete unknown about quality week to week.

It is the day before Preservice starts and this whole weekend has been rife w/ anxiety about it. Add on a perfect storm of home & car & health issues and all I can say is the past two weeks have not been great. I am very tired, mentally and physically. Weird way to end a great summer w/ the kids.
