People will say it’s bad that Mayer couldn’t answer this herself, and they’re right. They’ll say it’s bad she asked AI, and they’re right. But I am here to say that it’s bad that she looked at this wack ass output and called it “perfect”

atproto is public by default... which is great until your app needs a private group, or an invite list, or a draft. HappyProto comes with atproto spaces already enabled. You can have permissioned data for your users, even if their PDS doesn't support it yet. #atproto

Apple, please create an iSight camera that works with Macs, Apple TV, iPads and iPhones please. Use the original design, that kicks ass!

This remains true: it is not an engineering discipline. It's just deploying shoddy systems in inappropriate contexts, ignorant of (or sometimes reveling in) the externalized harms. What would it take to start doing engineering? Construct validity, adversarial audits, robust governance, and more.

While we're on the topic of the machine learning Michael Jordan and his interview calling this hysteria around fictional machine gods for what it is, let me share with you this essay he wrote in 2018 where he was similarly spot on. medium.com/@mijordan3/a...

Was debating calling out some of the problems with this study (even as I greatly respect the one author on the study whose work I'm familiar with) but I see Carl already did so. This study does not prove what the headline says...

In our course and book _Calling Bullshit_, we posit that If something seems too good, or too bad, to be true, it probably is. Now as a college professor I'm pretty confident that overreliance can AI can harm our thinking ability, but just ten minutes of use? Let's dig into this this study a bit.

ONE WEEK FROM TODAY IS NO KINGS #4 (Details at: nokings.org) We must turn up in MASSIVE numbers to show the world we don't support this Administration or a criminal president who has enriched himself to an obscene level at the expense of everyday hardworking Americans! #GettingReadyToDump-tRUMP 🟠💩 👎

No, dumbf*! AI does not feel anything. AI is not conscious. If you think these things are, then maybe you are brain dead.

Please read my comments to this. The NERVE to call those of us with peer reviewed empirical work as conspiracy theorists and not those doing seances for the AGI god (e.g. Hinton's students). But I have more things to say in the comments.

BTW when I say "seances for the AGI god" I'm not speaking in metaphors or exaggerating. Ilya Sutskever did these at OpenAI, you can read Karen Hao's Empire of AI for details.

Dear Apple, please add an indicator if our contact is using a third-party application in processing our iMessage, so we can opt whether or not to block them. :)

Rewrote some of my Shortcuts that use the Reminders app to store data - now with native storage support, no need for the Reminders app. LOL.
