RFK talks about autistic and Arabic people the exact same way. He assumes they are not capable of ordinary or extraordinary achievements because of who they are. He considers them sub-human because they are not like him. This makes it plain that his is a white supremacist eugenicist project.

If your only examples of Arabic literature, science, art, or other world-class achievements come from the Middle Ages — admittedly the time when the Arab and Muslim world was at its cultural zenith relative to the rest of the world — think about why that is and try to remedy it

Contemporary Arabic scholars, artists, writers, thinkers, technologists, teachers, leaders, etc., all exist and do remarkable work. For RFK Jr to assert otherwise is a mark of his own ignorance, prejudice, and political calculations. Don’t participate in any of them

If my government has a rooting interest in another country’s elections, or if another country’s government has a rooting interest in mine, then I need to pay attention to what happens in these countries’ politics. Plus our neighbors, economic partners, key allies and rivals… it’s a big world, kids

I'm going to try to do this cleanly. Today's right wing governments are networked to each other. Those networks are well-documented. You can read about them in books. Following the elections in one node of that network is good practice for understanding the U.S. node.

"He was so good at soccer at three years old that league officials confronted his parents and called the cops" sounds like a fish story folktale that people would tell about Bo Jackson

Oh no 😭 One of the last members of the USS Enterprise has left. RIP Walter Marvin Koenig (1936-2026) Star Trek, Babylon 5, Moontrap, The Starlost, The Questor Tapes, Futurama... What a career in sci-fi. I will miss Pavel Chekov. Again 😞

My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

Over 2,000 alumni from Vivek’s all-boys catholic high school in Cincinnati have signed and circulated a petition demanding that he pull the ad and issue a public apology for “ignoring the moral responsibilities” of his Jesuit education. I think he’s pretty cooked.

In Brazil, it appears that voters who opted for eliminated first-round candidates roughly broke even in the runoff (even if the candidates leaned right). But the big difference was: Millions of voters who cast 'null' or 'blank' ballots in the first round then voted for Lula.

Not a joke. This literal toddler is too good at a *competitive game* (he's amazing) so the fragile AF league (?) thought something at the intersection of criminalization + calling the people known to endanger Black lives was the appropriate response to this must be white + cis to play sports now

They called the cops on this 3-year-old Black boy because he was kickin the white kids' ass on the soccer field.

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

Congrats to Lula on overcoming Mark Zuckerberg and Donald Trump to defeat Hospital Pervert Jr., even as his opposition literally blocked off roads and turned off bus service during election day. Fascists are scary but they are always, 100% of the time, ultimately gigantic fucking losers.

I just want to name that people overcame this. Even against a stacked deck, the good fight is worth it. Win or lose, it's worth it. And sometimes the good guys win.

Bolsonaro-friendly mayors appear to be sabotaging public transport on Election Day. Buses aren’t running in Lula-friendly areas, flights and ferries mysteriously canceled. Traffic lights have gone out and people’s power cut in Salvador, indigenous people’s travel restricted

Lula has been reelected president, Brazilian media has now called. An extraordinary comeback for the left-wing politician who trailed by 2 points in round 1 but managed to hold off Flávio Bolsonaro, the former president's son.

cool, cool

Not “that gives me a place to start.” Not “that’s terrible, do you know anything about my daughter?” Not even “eh, good enough, it’s Miller time.” She thought it was perfect
