You never know when life hits you like a truck with some bad news.
I implore you - try to spend as much time as possible... on happy things. On things that make you happy. On things that make others happy.
Your life is important to someone - please do not waste it <3
Sketch I did earlier of a random Elseways squirrel and some typographical design for Origin Park, which is the big green rectangle in the middle of the city that holds gardens, playgrounds, walking paths, and bandstands. It connects a lot of the city's areas and is a common place to meet up.
We spent the summer somewhere grand
A peaceful place where sea meets land
It's autumn now, but next year's planned
We'll come back then for sun and sand
Sketched a version of Pikachu in line with my dream last night; this didn't literally appear, but I don't remember of the actual designs well enough, so I decided to "backport" the most famous one to how it would've looked in that retro setting. Weird little electric rat gremlin!
Hoodwink [HOOD-wingk]
(v.)
1. To trick, deceive, or mislead someone; to dupe.
Use:
“While the rest of us sharpen our pitchforks and ready our torches, the grifters continue to hoodwink those eager to be hoodwinked, knowing full well that it is now all or nothing, and there’s no going back now.”
Escape from New York, the glider scene.
It's '81, a year before Tron revolutionised CG and Carpenter has 1/3 of Tron's budget...so how did he pull off an absurdly sophisticated wireframe simulation?!
It's actually a cardboard city painted matte black, lined with reflective tape and lit with UV.
We all know the "Viggo broke his toe" story but what's another movie fact you're personally compelled to bring up every time without prompting?
For me, it's the fact that Robin Tunney is wearing a wig in The Craft because of having just shaved her head to save her job filming Empire Records.
I was recently sent this gloriously gothic SABLE fan art by the legendary @nightphysics.bsky.social ! I love the idea of Teddy as a Victorian-era occult investigator.
If you haven't checked out Austin's beautiful and haunting webcomic NIGHT PHYSICS, do yourself a favor and go read it now!
Today's warmup sketch: VI from The Last Word, now in color and with a more streamlined (and easier to animate) four arms instead of six. Their name is either pronounced "vee-eye" or "vie"; calling them "Six" will get you a nasty look the first time and there usually isn't a second.
