It feels like there's gotta be some informal, in-office game about "who's the most ludicrous person you can get into the job, $50bto enter, winner takes all."

The body proportions are something else. It's two trumps in a trenchcoat. Also that black bulge under his arm is some true amateur level ohitoshop work.

One of my favorite cases of someone being Wrong on the Internet was a very earnest, very confused vegan who was telling people how cruel honey is; and it eventually turned out they thought honey was made by putting bees in a centrifuge and spinning them around until they threw up.

One of the things I loved the most about the Neagley series is that I've never seen a group of characters that reminded me more of ones created by long-term gamers. If you've not seen the series yet there will be #spoilers ahead, so proceed with caution. The characters as presented to the DM:

Last weekend, we went to Melbourne Zoo, including a behind-the-scenes tiger encounter. This is Hutan, a 16 year old Sumatran tiger. Incredible experience to be within ten feet of an apex predator like this.

Birds in the Melbourne Zoo Great Flight Aviary - a spoonbill shaking off water, a white-faced heron in flight and perched, a little buff-banded rail and a bush stone-curlew.

This is Indrah, the Melbourne Zoo's other Sumatran tiger. They're brother and sister. Indrah was very relaxed - she'd apparently been given a massive feed the day before, and apparently a tiger with a very full belly doesn't move much.

More big cat photos: Mishka the snow leopard had cubs early this year, and they're getting bigger, nearly half her size now. They're gorgeous; their thick fur coats look so fluffy and soft.

I am old enough to remember when this was exactly how it worked. You saw posts from people you followed, in chronological order and, dear reader, it was fucking marvellous and I want it back.

I guess it's possible that it was a choice from Khoreo to have only the name read out and not team members...but everyone else got all or most of their team member names read out. After last year's ceremony you'd think they'd all be treated the same. #hugos

SUCH GOOD KITTEHS Having adopted a senior cat in the past, hand on heart can say seniors are wonderful to adopt as a rule. They're all settled, and just want some love and a comfy spot (and maybe some diet-appropriate treats). I really hope you find a home for these sweeties.

A tetanus-diphtheria vaccine that doesn’t need a fridge has passed its first human trial. UK scientists reformulated a licensed shot using trehalose, the sugar that lets desert plants survive without water, keeping it stable for up to two years at 30°C. Gavi buff.ly/1kNIUHB #ShareGoodNewsToo

She is alternating between staring at me and staring up at the box of treats. She has already had treats tonight, but she's convinced that if she stares hard enough, she will mentally force me to give her more. Not gonna happen, kittycat, you have had all your treats for the day.

The best argument anyone has ever made for preordering a book.

jackheathwriter 📚@jackheathwriter.bsky.social

Choppy Water is up for preorder! But the clock is ticking. Once the book is published, you can't preorder it anymore. You'll have to just buy it, like a chump. "Did you preorder Jack Heath's new action-packed thriller, like a true fan?" your friend will ask you. "I ordered it," you'll mumble.

(And, yes, I have pre-ordered it. Despite the fact that I have declared 2026 the year I finally get Mount TBR under control and will buy no new books until I do*.) (*This was a lie, to myself and to the world. I have bought new books. Mount TBR has only grown.)

1. This kid is amazing 2. The support he gets from the crowd and the other competitors is just amazing 3. Mic guy is obviously having a ball

Prominent economist Saul Eslake demolishes LNP’s ‘aspiration’ myth saying their 1999 CGT discount failed to build a nation of entrepreneurs & shareholders, in fact, those rates only fell since 1999, while “disproportionately favouring richer & older Australians”💥 #auspol

This seems like pretty solid, logical analysis. House construction has actually outpaced population growth, and using land tax on rented and vacant properties has pushed investors out...without driving up rents.

Investors fled Victoria, houses stayed put Changes to land taxes in Victoria pushed landlords out of the market — but didn’t reduce housing supply or drive up rents, showing that scrapping the CGT discount could improve affordability nationwide. thepoint.com.au/off-the-char...
