A lady in her 80s - went through Whipple for Pancreatic Cancer - and received chemotherapy - but an upper respiratory infection treated empirically with antibiotic - 2 months of extreme fatigue - no recurrence on work up by Oncologist - I saw her a few weeks later for follow up - dx her
Are grocery prices crazy high?
Yes.
Can you actually eat the crazy expensive food you buy?
Do you feel like playing Russian Roulette with your digestive tract?
Lupe comforted those affected by the
2015 San Bernardino terrorist attack, the Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting in Las Vegas and the mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas.
She’s known for kindness, and she’s living it fully. She stepped up, spoke out, and took real action. Fighting for children who can’t speak up. Using her platform to protect vulnerable kids. That’s using influence the right way.
Not mathematics. Not critical thinking.
How to barricade a door. How to remain silent. How to survive.
And somehow, we're supposed to call this normal.
Keep people terrified of something that isn't happening, and they'll spend considerably less time questioning the things that actually are.
Meanwhile, the children are being taught a rather different lesson.
I kept lollipops for lockdowns also. I kept a stash of unread books, snacks, & activity booklets for shelter in place should it go on past school hours. Our school also provided a bucket with a small first aid kit, a toilet seat, & other items. People honestly have no idea what educators do.
Saw this a few years ago: TSA took away her wheelchair away, making her stand in line and wait to walk unaided through the scanner.
Such thoughtlessness.
Can’t win for losing.
You’re judged for staying. You’re judged for not having support. You’re judged for having the wrong support.
In all that judgment no one ever thinks to just offer help.
Please don’t judge disabled people for staying in abusive relationships.
You can’t imagine the terror of being financially and/or physically dependent on someone for survival.
There’s no one to step in and rescue us.
This is why disabled people have higher rates of abuse.
We can’t escape.
Please be kind.
If you know someone with disabilities… give them a call.
Ask if they need anything.
Show them you care.
Be gentle with them when they express boundaries.
Respect that they need to protect their spoons.
Having someone we can count on can be everything!
I don’t say this for pity or sympathy.
I say it because many people don’t understand just easy it is to decimate the baseline of someone with chronic illness.
I was doing everything “right” to break out of the crash.
It didn’t matter.
Something completely outside of my control screwed me.
I was able to leave the house in the wheelchair and see the park for the first time in two years!!
still mostly housebound but my mecfs and long covid is so much better now
was bedbound all of 2025
reinfections are only “a fact of life” if you not only don’t make any effort to prevent them, but make it much harder for people to protect themselves than it ought to be
NYT: 'How Bad Is Another Case of Covid?'
“Every time there’s a wave, there’s another wave that’s going to follow with patients developing new onset long Covid,” said Akiko Iwasaki, an immunologist at Yale University

One thing most people don’t know about disability is how unsafe you feel ALL the time.
It’s terrifying not being able to trust your body to function properly.
It’s scary to need to rely on others for basic survival.
It’s frightening watching society label you expendable.
this is what the “yA gOtTa LiVe YoUr LiFe” brigade fails to grasp after six years—yeah, i do, hopefully not with a debilitating but largely preventable disease that confines me to my bed for all but two hours a day!
This young Olympian had very mild infection but is now severely disabled.
I have been asked why I still mask when death is now rare from COVID in Australia. It is not dying I am worried about.
Why is recognizing PEM so important in Long COVID?
Post-exertional malaise (PEM) is more than ordinary fatigue. As Professor Todd Davenport explains, recognizing PEM can help clinicians understand why exercise may worsen symptoms rather than improve them.

“Ewert’s day parole — first granted in February 2025 — was temporarily suspended in May 2025 because he had contacted and collected the phone numbers of multiple women”
He’s already violated the conditions of his day pass once and they’re STILL allowing him on campus.
Why?
He sexually assaulted and killed a woman.
He choked and beat another one. She survived but is disabled for life.
He was assessed as having a “moderate to high” risk of reoffending…yet he’s attending classes at McGill.
He’s allegedly on dating apps in violation of his day pass.
What are we doing?
I keep warning ppl.. one good fall or jus the flu and BAM... Disabled.
Ppl can not cope with that truth/reality.
Like.. accidents happen my friend.. your life will be forever changed and you will have even less resources than you do now. We need UBI and to increase disability pay.
Disability can happen to anyone at any time.
It’s not due to deconditioning or a moral failing.
Many chronic illnesses are the result of a viral infection from which the body never recovers.
We need more awareness, treatments & clean air to reduce viral spread.

The Oregon shooter targeted a special education classroom and killed three disabled children.
He shot and critically injured a fourth… a little girl in a wheelchair.
This story just keeps getting worse.
America… deal with your guns.
