Turnover at a glance: Nunziata –> Padovani Perks –> Chan McNally Saxe –> Layton Moise –> Stikuts Fletcher –> Ehrhardt Bradford –> Erskine-Smith Myers –> Chen Other than the loss of Myers, this is going to be a pretty strong Council for Chow.

I am not enjoying the way software engineering works lately (tell agent to do things, try not to get distracted, review a bunch of code, etc) and I gotta say, writing a dumb website artisanally is great. I feel so focused even though what I'm doing is like "extend typescript enum of beard formats"

Massive shoutout to the couple in the voting line in front of me. Woman was explaining who to vote for to the guy, who seemed like he was there because she asked. "There are two Chows on the ballot, make sure it's Olivia. Curran Stikuts for councillor, he's not our current councillor." Hell yeah.

His former ward is HEAVILY polling against him, which should be all the information you need. Those people have experience being "led" (lol) by him and they HATED it. Surely we can take this into account, along with endorsements from billionaires who think you should get more votes if you're rich.

For whatever reason I thought about this specific moment on the streetcar today and then I really struggled to keep it together. Fucking stupid that we all have to just keep on doing things without Dan around. This was so cool, though.

Sixers hold a moment of silence for Dan McQuade.

Maybe it's because the Flyers and the Flames were both like generationally terrible out of the gate and that would have been a fun thing to discuss but I miss you dude. Dan forever.

sometimes you make a stupid baseball website. and then you blink and you're writing a whole spreadsheet to CSV to TypeScript data pipeline.

I can't believe it's been a year since the Springer dinger. It feels like it just happened. Spent seven innings making peace with the ALCS loss and then suddenly had to unlock all the cabinets of feelings again lmao

Almost got hit by an SUV on College, turning left from Bathurst, because, idk, she was mad so many people crossed southbound from a detoured streetcar? Like she was shaking her head in apparent disgust while speeding up... through the crosswalk that we still had the right of way in... Great stuff ✌🏽

Alberta transplant here with some hot takes: hell yeah on the remain vote, absolutely not hell yeah on the nine. groundbreaking I know.

Started reading On the Calculation of Volume I today. Kinda thought it might be a slog based on some of the descriptions, but I blew through like 20% in the time it took me to eat breakfast and drink a coffee. It reads so well. Fascinating to imagine this stretching out so long.

what is some literary fiction or sci-fi you have loved recently? I especially love plotless fiction lately... but I'm just in one of those MOODS where I don't want to read anything on my hold list lol

it's always surprising to me the number of liberal, democrat-leaning americans that adopt right-wing talking points and misinformation when it comes to canadian healthcare

Sky Marchini@sky.skymarchini.net

also, and I know this is not the point, but knowing a few canadians IRL: their healthcare system kinda sucks. it's not transferable between provinces without a 3 month waiting period (and for short trips, for quebec), it doesn't cover most drugs, and then there's the "you should kill yourself" thing

I'll stop posting about this now, but this is one of the nicest things anyone has said about my writing, thank you so much. I appreciate that my annual attempts at sportswriting are resonating with people. Here's to 2027 and a better ratio of good memories to bad ones.

This is an absolutely lovely piece of writing. My goodness. There are only a very small few who can make me tear up reading about baseball (looking at you, @keeganmatheson.bsky.social) but this got me. Thank you, @ruhee.ca. ruheedewji.com/2026/10/13/2...

We recorded an episode today about the bike lane removals in Toronto and decided to text Ontario Premier Doug Ford to give him the opportunity to comment. (Yes, we have his real phone number.) He wrote back.

Not a bad baseball stance. From the 14th-century Le Roman de la Rose.

I'd like to work with an editor one day just to see what that's like. I bet it would be great. Just a thought I'm having unrelated to anything in this thread
