There should be a mandatory six-month “cooling off period” between any mass shooting or act of terrorism and any legislation purportedly put out in response to it, because the emotional immediate aftermath is always when lawmakers try to roll out their most authoritarian agendas.

If you are feeling down and need a laugh just hang on to this thought: Less than 3 months ago, Peter Dutton was in the media discussing whether he would live in Canberra or Sydney after he won the election. 😂🤣🤡 Good times #auspol

They walk among us. Robert Borsak, NSW parlt, representing shooters, wants to have access to night vision, silencers, the right to hunt on Crown Land. Still hasn't managed to grow a dick. #auspol

Local fed Labor MP. 2nd term now, upped his margin from 1% last time to 10% in what was blue ribbon lieberal seat. Just came walking past after buying a takeaway lunch at a local cafe. That is a big part of his charm. Not a rockstar, just a quiet achiever. We've had our fill of rockstars here.

Relieved Dutton’s out? Handy reminder: Albanese’s Labor government is, at best, complacent, at worst, complicit in Israel’s genocide. Gaza is being bombed, starved, ethnically cleansed. Voting out morally bankrupt leaders isn’t enough—we must still hold power to account for the most vulnerable.

Went to vote this morning, my name not on the role.AEC guy suggested I had failed to update something. Same birthdate& gender. This address 40 yrs,Phone 25 yrs, licence 58 years. Alter what? Was voting in the local school hall where my name (1968) was on the honour roll right behind him.

They were really nice though. Filled in declaration, got to vote. Curious how it could happen. I have been "harassing" the local LNP wanna be though, so maybe...

#Integrity, #transparency and #accountability are the foundation stones of democracy. I’ve fought for them inside and out of the parliament and I want to go back to the Senate to fight some more. We must eliminate corruption and dishonesty in politics.💪💥👊 #auspol

Can we just say this out loud? The muted and almost light tone of coverage of this guy breaking into an airport and managing to board a plane with a LOADED SHOTGUN would be wildly different if he wasn't white.

Russia’s advance has slowed across the front. One reason: winter—bare trees expose infantry to drones. Another: Russian exhaustion. Ukraine, also short on troops, relies on drones, and it’s working—🇷🇺losses have risen every month for the past five months. www.wsj.com/world/russia...

Let's not beat around the bush- If Albanese had governed as most of us hoped he would, ie. set up a proper NACC, sidelined fossil fuels with real climate change action, protected whistleblowers, called out Israel's war crimes, the ALP would be certain of re-election instead of staring into the abyss
