Since coming back online I’ve taken a stance that I won’t install apps for media. Bsky works fine in a browser. Others don’t, and trying to force me into an app is a hard no.

shitposts aside, this one is serious, my loves: if you’re just waking up and you have any service online running PHP 5.4 to latest, you need to take it down RIGHT NOW and don’t put it back online until after it’s patched absolutely catastrophic vulnerability dropped in the middle of the night

Metronet is down for a huge chunk of Des Moines due to “vandalism“. someone chopped the line down in the industrial area east of 2nd. I ride by there every week, that was sabotage if you ask me.

I sold lawn chemical treatment over the phone. Made it 2 hours, got up, said I was going to the bathroom, left and never came back.

Anymore it’s not enough that a project is open source for me to adopt it. It also needs to be non-corporate. I’m tired of being jerked around. GPL is also preferable if I can get it.

A lot of people don’t realize that Colonial Williamsburg is a sham, half the town is fake and it’s very hard to tell whats actually historic and what was made to look like it. Histotic preservation is about actual history.

I’m not arguing that the church shouldn’t have been built. I’m in full support of it. I am arguing that the whole town is basically Disneyland.

we go on walks at Grays Lake and I’ve wondered about the temp bridge they‘ve been building, but this is what’s going on, which they posted on the other side of the River

I think it would be fun for Silo to have infinite endings from here on out. Do multiple 3 episode arcs each with different directors.

For anyone in the DSM area. I'm doing a talk at Iowa Code Camp nov 7th. Deck is written in HTML (no JS), I'm presenting as my long time handle "Ryber". I'm going to say some things

While I was on my little online break I took this picture of Barry and it was so hard to not post it immediately

Years ago I did a photo shoot for the state dept of tourism which then became a stock photo for the gov. most recent use is this manual for IPERS (gov employee retirement fund)

I’m going to be taking a break from online until October when the political junky in me will need his fix. Until then… smell ya later

Ok, review of the My Chem show. It was quite fun. They did all of the Black Parade set in some mythic former Soviet republic, lots of theatrics, a dictator, a murderous clown, etc. After that they came back out as just a rock band and tore it up for another 45 minutes.

Baseball is best played in stadiums specifically made for baseball, but baseball stadiums are absolute crap for all other uses.

All modern outdoor baseball stadiums also now have this specific condo building outside of them. Which seeeems cool as long as you love baseball?… maybe only baseball players live in it?

I’ve now seen both stars of Portlandia in concert. … I saw Fred when he was the drummer for Trenchmouth at a little punk bar in Des Moines Iowa in the early 90’s

The two hardest problems in Computer Science are 1. Human communication 2. Getting people in tech to believe that human communication is important

Today I finally sold a car that I've been wanting to sell for a long time but that my ADHD, the county auditor, and Nissan Financial all conspired against me selling. My long automotive nightmare is over!!

My review: I think a lot of people showed up for a evening with Pete Seeger, and Jesse gave them that for the 1st 20 minutes and then proceed to rock the fuck out for the rest including covers of "War Pigs" and "Come As You Are". This guy is legit.

Why is Jessie Wells this hot?

Ok do the “three artists” thing but it’s the most divisive artists you legitimately like: - Throbbing Gristle - Tiny Tim - Chicago

I remember as a kid in Iowa schools I was taught that Amana was proof that communism doesn’t work. And well, it wasn’t exactly communism, and also it did work for a long time. I wouldn’t call it a failure. Kids not being into their parent’s religion was most of the problem

The other day I was having the robot upgrade a dependency and it got to a method it couldn’t fix. I tried all the models, none of them could do it. It was just one little method. They all faceplanted on it. Absolutely fascinating. I fixed it myself in 2 minutes

After repeated listens I’m going to finally take a stand and say that “Use Your Illusion I” > “Use Your Illusion II”. Although there are specific songs on II that are better than the majority of I. (You Could Be Mine, Civil War)
