This is brilliant! Masking can be fun ☺️

A mask protects you from all the pathogens spreading in the air! #IAmNYCC

In case you need a break from all the awfulness, here's what @sainsburys.bsky.social delivered to me today😂. Equally bonkers was when I asked if I could just keep one tomato (as per order) I was told no. Either keep the lot or they all have to go back!🤦‍♀️😂

Having wrongly stated that no infectious person should wear an FFP3 as they don't filter exhaled air (so don't protect others), those responsible for Scotland & Wales' infection protection & control manual are going to review. Valved FFP3 don't filter exhaled air. Fit-tested unvalved FFP3 do.

Inclusive New Normal@inclusivenew.bsky.social

Update: Following my recent post below, I decided to write to the body responsible, pointing out that it is incorrect to say that fit-tested unvalved FFP3 face masks do not filter air expelled by the wearer so should never be worn by an infectious person. I have just had a response! 🥳🧵

I've done my best to ensure that there is some spotlight on airborne respiratory infections, indoor air equality and inclusion, although the emphasis is often on pollution - also very important, obviously.

With three wildfires in Edinburgh over the last year alone, big inner city fires in Edinburgh and Glasgow, and more across Scotland & the UK, it's becoming more and more important to clean air indoors - get in touch with us if you want to borrow a purifier or help buying or building your own!

It's worth getting hold of a HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filtration unit or two if affected by smoke indoors. They filter out harmful smoke particles & as a bonus also other harmful particles, airborne allergens & infections. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Lodge this in your mind. The reality is diametrically opposed to what most of the media and several political parties are telling us.

Every country in this list is less dependent on energy imports if it gets on track for a net-zero world, including the US. Though US gains are the least! From BNEF's New Energy Outlook for 2026.

Good to see a country push back against foreign billionaire profiteers. I so wish the British public would do the same.

NEW: We often hear that Scotland’s more progressive income tax is “driving people out the country.” New HMRC data shows the opposite. Far more taxpayers are moving to Scotland than leaving it. Let’s look at the data 🧵

MSPs vote today on the assisted dying Bill. Many will wrestle with what to do. The right thing to do is vote against because no training can ensure coercion is detected & no 'safeguards' can't be got round now & removed later. This Bill is dangerous. I'm scared by where it will lead.

nb that should say I brought a CO2 monitor with me to the Parliament, though I guess I did bring my own CO2 as well, given I breathe it out like everyone else does 😂

5/6 Indoor air quality was good in the entrance foyer & outside the Committee room when we arrived but OMG 😱 by the end of the first part of the session in the Committee room it was 1802ppm! Very high - well above the 800ppm/ 1000ppm recommended max.

6/6 At 1500ppm there's already evidence of clear impairment in strategic thinking, problem solving, and information use. Something politicians may care to reflect on - in a well-ventilated room!

3/6 True, there’s little time pre-election but they could’ve written to the Minister to ask if/how people with specialist expertise in airborne infection & lived experience of clinical vulnerability to airborne infection had been involved in developing the forthcoming infection prevention strategy 🤔

4/6 I took CO2 readings at the Parliament, having been assured "our mechanical ventilation is maintained in accordance with all relevant requirements and monitored by our Facilities Management team. Ongoing monitoring and maintenance ensure a good supply of fresh air is maintained in the building.".
