Today we're excited to announce Halide's big iPhone Duo update! Rather than add mere compatibility, we challenged ourselves to reimagine the experience on a foldable device. This meant building three big additions that take advantage of each Duo pose. www.lux.camera/halide-for-d...

In July, I went on parental leave for the birth of my second son, Isaac. Unfortunately, around this time, my dad’s health turn a turn for the worse. In August, he entered hospice, and last Saturday passed away. Anyway, I’m going to be fairly offline this week. schlossbergchapel.com/obituary/mar...

Rich, saturated flowers might be the most difficult subject to capture with a digital camera. A smart phone struggles to reproduce the color as your eyes saw it. Compare the Apple camera to Halide’s “Rembrandt” process, which eschews realism for a more film-like look.

With Halide Mark III, we rebuilt our image processing engine to take full advantage of the iPhone camera sensor's native gamut and dynamic range. We partnered with a renowned Hollywood colorist to develop a set of amazing looks, each with a specific intent. Enough words, here's photos!

Our iPhone 17e review is here! Since it's the same camera as the 16e, we mostly focus on the software. What makes its new portrait mode different from the rest of the iPhone lineup? What's up with this weird software limitation? Read on! www.lux.camera/iphone-17e-a...

Talked with @sandofsky.com to confirm we don't have to worry about the future of Halide, and Mark III looks really interesting.

I feel lucky I grew up watching the explosion of the internet, culminating in the ubiquity of smart phones. Connecting humanity was our generation’s moon landing. I feel cursed living through the innovation drought. Everything today feels designed to exploit the connected.

I think the people most impressed by LLM knowledge grew up after the web was ruined by SEO and Google was destroyed from within. They aren’t used to typing a question into a box and getting an answer without bullshit.

Jake's made a great synopsis of DHH. I first met DHH almost 25 years ago, spoke at his office, helped promote his products, hosted him at events. DHH thinks you can tell by *looking* whether someone is a "native". Because he thinks people who look like me can never belong to our countries. Fuck him.

Jake Lazaroff@jakelazaroff.com

show this to anyone else you know who also assumed DHH was just a normal conservative dude rather than a raging white supremacist lunatic

jakelazaroff.comDHH Is Way Worse Than I Thought | jakelazaroff.comDHH's politics are not normal. Maybe they used to be, I don't know, but as of right now the dude is_way outside of what most people would consider moral or acceptable.

It's rare to find openings for junior roles on teams that make a huge impact like this. If you know a great junior dev, pass it on!

If you like what you see in the #iPhone17 cameras, come work with me at Apple Park! My team drives the photo pipeline and has a new position open to early-career engineers (minimum 0-3 years of experience). Whenever you see a “Shot on iPhone” billboard, you see our work; it could be your work too.🧵

The right's celebration over Jimmy Kimmel's censorship boils down to, "He was lying!" Kimmel shared an opinion. These people can't tell the difference between an opinion and a fact.
