Set out the watch The Apple (1980), and in the process of looking for a place to stream it I somehow ended up watching Apple Pie (1976), a 73-minute fever dream made up of an hour of bizarre nonsense and then a 15-minute dance sequence. This may actually be the strangest movie I have ever seen.

Ok, the more I dig into this movie the weirder shit I find. The dad was played by Brother Theodore, a bona fide outsider artist who escaped Nazi Germany only to be deported from Switzerland for "chess hustling." One year after Apple Pie came out, he was the voice of Gollum in the Rankin/Bass Hobbit!

Cool Thing About Following Eurovision Fan Media #73: You're more likely to hear about international news, plus you get way more stoked about it just imagining how happy Konstrakta must be 🎉✊🇷🇸
The long-serving strongman leader of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, has conceded defeat in an election that pitted him and his right-wing party against a diverse student-led opposition movement that spent two years protesting his government.
The one that took me most by surprise was Wil Wheaton, to be honest. I was in line just like "Yeah, he's a neat guy, it'd be fun to meet him," and then we made eye contact... suddenly I was six years old again, looking up at the TV screen when he appeared on TNG like
Regardless of their level of mainstream fame, who's someone you were actually starstruck to meet? (This question brought to you by a starstruck-resistant dude I know who didn't bat an eye meeting Jack Black, but lost his ability to form sentences upon meeting Gordon from Sesame Street.)
I had a temp job for one week at an edibles company, putting labels on bottles of CBD soda. I wasn't allowed to sit, so I had terrible neck pain the whole time. They offered me a position afterward, surprisingly – I was like "no one who doesn't want the employee discount would say yes to this."

Reminds me of the best ad campaign ever: these broadsheets that @rianjohnson.bsky.social shared online for fans to download, print, and post around their town. If you saw one of these in Seattle, it was probably my doing!
Reading this article made me feel crazy. Nouela and I were coworkers for a couple years, and I've been a fan of her music for 20 years or so. This is just bonkers.
You're telling me that on the same day I was releasing a collab with a wonderful music friend which was my first recording after some difficult years, two OTHER wonderful music friends were also releasing a collab, which was the first release after some difficult years for one of them too??? 😭🥰🎶✨
I've been blessed to work with both @elizarickman.bsky.social and @unwoman.com in the past, and the fact that I learned about this incredible serendipity after no fewer than five pieces of bad news this morning feels like a fucking blessing. Please go listen to their cover, it's gorgeous. 💜
I was just reminded of a random Mr Show bit, and goddamn but that show was funny. "I missed the first day of school and never caught up" used to my excuse for literally everything.
what's your favorite kids in the hall skit that's not girl drink drunk or the daves i know
I mean look, Bandcamp Friday only lasts for 24 hours, and also I haven't released a new song in SIX YEARS, so yeah I am going to post about this more than once. Me and @mollylewis.wtf wrote a drinking song for introverts, and you'll probably like it.
Someday the Gen Z Steven Spielberg will be making a movie about this woman. People know how to be on the right side of history!
This 33-year-old nurse told the FBI she knew she was “going to set him free” after border patrol agents brought in a man whose face was bloodied and seriously injured. She treated him and helped him escape, and she faces charges now. He got away, and they never relocated him.
