Primetime review: A circular firing squad of predators holds a mirror up to society. The movie feels all the more prescient given the upcoming livestream of an execution. 8.5/10. One of my faves of the year.

I crouched in the vacant industrial lot across from Fantasies and cackled in the misty dark as the yellow foil smiley face balloon freed itself from the razor wire and hung for a moment in the buzzing pink neon glow of the strip club marquee before fleeing south into the chemical smoke.

Coming this winter: Flyover Trash is a collection of trash and detritus from America’s flyover country. A photo zine that Henry Kissinger would bomb if he wasn’t dead. #FlyOverTrash #Photography

Views of Milwaukee's Hoan Bridge. August 2026. The bridge is a memorial to Daniel Hoan, city mayor from 1916 to 1940. Hoan's time in office represents the longest tenure of a socialist administration in U.S. history. The bridge opened in 1977. #NewTopographics #Photography

There's a darkness at the center of town Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula sticks into Lake Superior seemingly as a dare: its outstretched finger beckoning “come here." Rich copper deposits sweeten the trap. Once captured, the Keweenaw exacts its revenge. Read more: sbiessel.com/theres-a-dar...

"Nostalgia is cheap, and plenty of films peddling it have died on the vine. No, what sets BACK TO THE FUTURE apart is not that it is nostalgic, but that it grasps nostalgia as a production, a site of labor. It doesn’t remember the past; it re-manufactures it, to spec, on a studio lot."

My mom told me that Padfoot died. This is my fondest memory: It was late fall in Alaska and he was running hell-bent on frozen Beluga Lake, ears flapping in the wind. Looking back on this shot years later, I'm struck that I can't tell if he was running away or towards me. Homer, AK. October 2012.

Omaha, NE. June 2026. I'm guessing this is an unhoused person's blanket—inadvertently contributing to the early summer bloom in the prairie. #Omaha #NewTopographics

Ok, I'm going to repost some works of my early days as a photographer. Few people scroll my gallery that far. But there's some interesting stuff there, and a vision I no longer have. #photography #streetphoto #streetphotography #bw #blackandwhite #bnw #monochrome #classicmono September 2007

There's a lot of complexity buried in this one. Many unhoused folks previously lived around the lot and the nearby train tracks. The area was recently mowed disturbing several of those shelters. North Downtown is also growing, which may soon fill in this lot with new development.

Everything is illuminated (Yes, this is sunlight reflecting from a discarded mirror in an alley illuminating the word "shit" on a wall.) Omaha, NE. May 2026. #Omaha #OmahaStreets

An old Chevy claps back at the 2020s sad beige aesthetic; a raised middle finger to the drab tweed and faux religion of a failed cultural revolution. The pastels on this C60 will outrun them all, rust be damned. Omaha, NE. April 2026. #Omaha #OmahaStreets
