Happy to share that our manuscript on virus-induced genome editing in a #ParasiticPlant has been published in Plant, Cell & Environment: doi.org/10.1111/pce.... The method also works well beyond the genes edited in the paper—so, more to come! The plasmids will soon be available from Addgene.

🧬 New preprint from our lab! After years of work, we're excited to share our story: the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex (PDHc) — best known for feeding the TCA cycle — has a second, non-catalytic role supporting mitochondrial DNA gene expression in yeast.

Excited to finally see this wonderful story on how Ca2+ enters the plastid stroma out. Congratulations 👏👏👏

New PEC story 🌱 led by PhD cand Susi with amazing collabs Grimm, Hause & Robatzek labs! We patch-clamped isolated plastids to show that PECs mediate rapid cation flux across the IE. PECs relay Ca²⁺ signals into plastids & link Ca²⁺ to JA-mediated defense. #plantscience www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/...

A research team led by the universities of Münster, @unihannover.bsky.social & @unihalle.bsky.social (funded by @dfg.de) has shown that the mitochondria, the “powerhouses” of cells, are already ready for action in dry plant seeds. Their structure is fully developed and their “machinery” is complete.
