Does anyone else only have a vague sense of what normal skunk behavior is?
Because there's not enough going on: Vancouver Coastal Health warns that rabies has been confirmed in Downtown Vancouver. Anyone who may have come in contact w/ "abnormally behaving skunk" downtown, West End or in Stanley Park (map) Sept 22-Oct 17 should call VCH public health ASAP: 604-675-3900

"As a lawyer from a family of lawyers, my message to British Columbians is simple. Lawyers suck, vote for me"
My dad was a lawyer, and he used to tell me: no matter what happens, lawyers always win. And if the Conservatives bring personal injury lawyers back into our car insurance system, that’s exactly what will happen. The Conservatives want the lawyers to win big and they want you to pay for it.
Imagine thinking the problem with European transit agencies is that they spend their money actually building and running transit rather than on consultants to write equity reports.
how do you write this?! how do you not realize you are the fucking problem here?! you are the one doing things worse! they are better at this than you!

A fun thought experiment is how would Eby have described it if Christy Clark had removed a road test with a one third fail rate because ICBC after years of political games can't figure out staffing in rural areas? I'm going with "austerity endangering the safety of BCers" www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

In the real world, actualizing the right to housing requires that there are enough homes. This might seem self-evident, yet a surprising number of people struggle understanding this.
This piece, which fails to even gesture at the possibility that high cost European cities might have a shortage of housing, is inadvertently in object lesson in why the global housing crisis is hitting Europe so hard www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
Carney's statement is a politely worded way of saying "come back to me after you have convinced another 6/9 provinces, then we'll talk" The actually interesting part is how this is another data point in the weakening of the post Meech/Charlottetown never try amendments national consensus.
Oh, you want to open the constitution to appease Alberta kooks? I have some ideas for changes too. And I am not a kook. www.thestar.com/politics/fed...
If the province is going to be redoing the municipal goverance model (and it should), ideally cities would get new revenue powers in exchange for much curtailed land use powers
David Eby's BC NDP promises to create a Surrey Charter, giving the City of Surrey municipal powers similar to the City of Vancouver's under the Vancouver Charter. The legislation would give City of Surrey greater autonomy. #bcpoli #vanpoli #vanre dailyhive.com/vancouver/bc...
At this point I couldn't care less whether the western most crossing of the Fraser happens above or below the water with 8 lanes or 10. Just stop bickering and build something
The year is 2076, the recently elected Social Credit 2: Credit Harder government cancels the previous NDP government's planned Massey Tunnel expansion and announces they will build the bridge the NDP canceled.

I think the only place where I have enjoyed the under road/rail viaduct space was in Tokyo where actually buildings with decent sound proofing get built and then used for shops and restaurants. Anything else will be futile hopium that people will actually want to be there.
I don’t think city planners and architects understand cities at all if they can illustrate this type of graphic without asking the question of why that space isn’t used? Freeways are loud, unpleasant gashes in cities and the only way to create this level of vibrancy is to remove them

AB Premier Danielle Smith announces the province is forcing Edmonton to reverse its infill housing rules, because why would you want an example of market-driving housing affordability in your small-government province? www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xjx2...
The top marginal tax rate will has grown under the NDP from 14.7% to 20.5% but they can't keep ERs open, they had to pause $10/day daycare expansion while blowing up the deficit. What is one more tax hike going to fix that the first several didn't?
Some details on the new tax on people making more than a million a year if the NDP is re-elected. Would also increase taxes on anyone making more than $190,000.
I'm continually amazed the City of Vancouver hasn't negatively polarized more people into becoming radical libertarians
Victoria Drive, Vancouver: an old storefront that the city says can’t be used for commercial use anymore, and a garden store that is grandfathered in and would have to shut down permanently if the owners ever take a break
Most of those are supply manged, which is a literal government sponsored and protected cartel designed to raise prices. Artificially increasing the price of milk and eggs then layering price controls on top because the price is too high is completely incoherent
David Eby promises a re-elected NDP will create a cap on the allowable markup by large grocery stores on milk, eggs, butter, cheese, chicken and turkey “Don’t worry about Jimmy, he’ll be okay,” said Eby, referring to Jimmy Pattinson and his Save On Foods grocery stores.
