With the exception of the Leo 2 A-RC, where the designers were able to reduce the turret's height by 4cm, none of the presented designs have any significant reductions of internal volume to show for - at least not without some huge compromises. It's really questionable whether it even makes 2/x

Liebherr has updated the data for their D9612(defence solution) engine. I suspected they aimed to use it for the OLYMP power pack since when Liebherr was selected as the engine provider. However when I checked their website four days ago the engine's height was allegedly 1580mm.

Hartpunkt suspects RENK plans to use an improved version of its HSWL 354 gear unit for the Leopard 2's successor's power pack(OLYMP) development. As can be seen on RENK's website, the new version weighs 2250 instead of 2385kg while being able to handle an input power of 1800 instead of 1500hp.

It also reinforces my earlier suspicion that future tanks will have relatively poor passive armour and therefore will only be able to remain within their weight limits while reaching their protection levels, if they rely on expensive APSs not just against vertically intruding threats.

While this seems like an impressive improvement, it is nevertheless a huge step down from the almost 30-years-old Euro Power Pack in terms of packaging. Furthermore, because the engine connects to it longitudinally, the COM can't be pushed rewards as much as with a transversal configuration.
